Government has advised Zambian businesses to consider forming partnerships with foreign investors that want to set up businesses in the country. Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe, said that government is working hard to attract foreign businesses into the country.

Mrs Mwanakatwe was speaking in an interview with ZNBC Sylvia Kabala, ahead of the UK-Zambia Investment Forum which opens in London.

Mrs Mwanakatwe said that the Forum was targeting investors from the United Kingdom and beyond, to invest in sectors such as Agriculture, Energy, Tourism, Mining and the extractive industries.

She said that half of the investors expected to attend the forum are interested in exploring the potential for investment in Zambia’s Energy and extractives sectors.

The Vice President who is already in London, will give a keynote address to the Forum, at which about 500 businesses have now confirmed participation.

Several other stakeholders from the private and public, in Zambia, are also expected at the forum, called to market Zambia’s investment potential.

The forum has been organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, in collaboration with the Developing Markets Association of London.

  1. Hopefully Margaret Mwanakatwe has made enough allowances from these senseless trips PF ministers make to come and pay back her debt. In civilised , Margaret and her husband would have resigned ….and if we had a president with a vision , fired.

  2. Mwanakatwe is a corrupt and so is CEEC. How can Ceec fail to recover loan from this minister. Some of us applied for loan in 2011 and nothing is coming out despite depositing collatrel in form property titles. Titles are stuck with ceec and yet pf cadres with no traceable record are given funds. And those loans are meant to be paid back so that others benefit. Greedy woman and abash PF. HH 2016

  3. madam, we firstly trying to partner locally before partnering internationally. But when we go to banks and other institutions for loans financial, we cant get any bcoz, you as the minister have borrowed ackabd are repaying

    • PF Ministers cannot be fired! Lungu has not got enough courage to take decisive action like this!

Instead we will see the creation of EVEN MORE Ministries with Deputy Ministers and deputy deputy Ministers to accommodate corrupt and incompetent PF members in Government and ensure enough bootlickers to support Lungus re-election bid.

Zambia is really becoming a failed State with this M0R0N in charge!

  4. Opposition should take this up as a strong campaign message. The nation will listen. I do not mind the debt with the private bank. Its merely an ethical issue more so that she is a banker; having served at the very top. What I mind most is the CEEC loan. If Donald Trump was campaigning in Zambia, he would demolish PF on this alone just in minutes.
