United Party for National Development-UPND Members of Parliament yesterday afternoon walked out of parliament in protest of the alleged destruction of their Kitwe Office by suspected Patriotic Front-PF cadres.

UPND Monze Central MP Jack Mwimbu rising on a point of order said party MPs will not attend parliamentary sittings until their members rights are protected.

But Speaker of National Assembly Patrick Matibini said he could not rule on the matter as the UPND MPs had walked out of the house.

Some suspected PF cadres stormed the UPND secretariat in Kitwe where the party leadership was scheduled to hold a meeting.

Meanwhile, PF Secretary General Davies Chama has expressed ignorance on allegations that suspected PF cadres have destroyed the UPND office in Kitwe.

Mr Chama has however advised the UPND to adhere to the law by not holding political meetings without a police permit

He said UPND leadership should not abrogate the law in an attempt to ascend to power.

And Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini says he does not know what motivated UPND Members of Parliament to walk out of parliament.

Dr . Matibini says he only understands that UPND Monze member of Parliament JACK Mwimbu raised a point of order seeking his ruling on the alleged destruction of the UPND’s Kitwe office by suspected PF cadres.

He charged that members of parliament should not abscond business of the house without the leave of the Speaker.

Dr Matibini lamented that it is embarrassing that sometime members of parliament are not able to form a quorum when parliamentary business begin.

He was responding to the point of order raised by Local Government and Housing Minister Steven Kampyongo.

Mr Kapyongo who is also Patriotic Front-PF Shiwang’andu member of parliament sought the Speaker’s ruling on whether it was in order for UPND members of parliament to walk out of the house.

The UPND members of parliament this afternoon walked out of the house in protest of the alleged destruction of their Kitwe Office and hacking of people within the vicinity by suspected Patriotic Front-PF cadres.

UPND Monze Central MP Jack Mwimbu earlier said that UPND leaders will never attend until party member’s rights are protected.

  1. Meanwhile, PF Secretary General Davies Chama has expressed ignorance on allegations that suspected PF cadres have destroyed the UPND office in Kitwe….Hahaha yes you don’t (sarcasm)

    • Reconciliation as per Edgar Lungu. The buck stops at the President…he is the Commander in Chief. How can a govt be brutalizing its own people with such impunity? We have a clear case for the International Court of Justice

    • PF clowns have expressed ignorance?

Do you mean these id!ots have finally realised what most of us have known for years?

The most IGNORANT, incompetent and dull bunch of people Zambia has ever seen in Government. And they have at last discovered the truth about themselves

  2. I think all parties must have in their constitution dates of conventions which happen every quarter and must communicate these including the venues to the police and the High Court. Apart from that, press conferences, interviews, smaller gatherings (of top members) and parliamentary business should suffice.
That is what all mature democracies do!

    • Do we still have people like Bwachiti in Zambia in 2015? Shame on you and those that are like you that are part of the fools that would like to take all of us back to the UNIP days? This is a a PF President who is not ready to hand over power peacefully in 2016 when he loses……….Very dangerous Presidency. If you have failed, it gives a lot of honour and dignity to the country to peacefully give up the reigns of power to the others to try. Honestly, are we going to manage in such an economic environment up to 2021? I can see death in my face for a lot of Zambians in our compounds and Rural areas. So people like Bwachiti!!!! What/Where is your benefit from such a leader who is clueless about economic issues apart from buying you Shake Shake?

  3. UPND FAKA PRESSURE! TSENYA PRESSURA! WE SALUTE YOU OUR MPs. THAT IS THE WAY TO GO. SOLIDARITY ZAMBIA. PF IS DEAD! LUNGU IS STRANDED! LUNGU STOLE POWER FROM UPND LAST JANUARY, BUT HAS PLANNED TO TRANSFER THE STOLEN POWER BACK TO THE RIGHTFUL OWNERS, BACK TO HH AND HIS UPND TEAM. GOD REDEEM ZAMBIA. LET THE STRONG WIND OF CHANGE CONTINUE SWEEPING ACROSS ZAMBIA. 2016 IT IS FLIGHT HH TAKING OFF! ZAMBIA FORWARD!

  4. I THINK HH IS THE MOST EXCITED AMONG ALL THE OPPOSITION POLITICAL PARTIES. HOWEVER, IT WILL STILL COME TO THE SAME THING. HE WILL LOSE AGAIN AS USUAL.

  5. Parliament has if I am not mistaken 150 members. in addition to the 150, the president nominates some members. UpDn has only 29 members of parliament. To form a quorum you need a minimum of a 100 members. Does the walking out of UpDn affect the business of the house. Hell no. Parliament can still function even if all UpDn members of parliament decided to stay away for the whole year.

  6. These money vouchers have a problem we ve one president at a time if they think they can form gorvement let them wait for 2016 and problem miners facing on the copperbelt is due the same man who advised the chiluba regime.personaly I don’t trust hh and upnd
