The Supreme Court has confirmed that MMD Liuwa Member of Parliament Situmbeko Musokotwane was duly elected.
The Highest Court of Appeal has upheld the decision by the Lusaka High Court that declared Dr Musokotwane as duly elected Liuwa MP in the 2011 General Elections.
Supreme Court Judge Gregory Phiri has quashed the appeal by Lieutenant Colonel Kaneta Truman Simuyuwa of the Patriotic Front- and Mundia Sikufela of UPND.
Judge Phiri observed that the appeal lacks merit.
Master of the Supreme Court Elbert Lungu read the judgment today on behalf of Judge PHIRI.
The Liuwa Parliamentary Election Petition was among 68 petitions filed after the 2011 General Elections.
These petitions can only come from the PF not UPND. PF has lost popularity and wants to gets seats in the opposition stronghold.

Very refreshing judgment indeed. This clearly shows that the booting out of Lombe Chibesakunda as the top dog at the Supreme court has brought sanity to the supreme court. She was going to give a ruling in favour of PF and let another costly by-election be called with her fingers crossed for PF to win.

The Zambian justice system is an ass. Five years later and in time for the next general election, that’s when there’s closure! The rotting vindictive Sata must be “revolving in his grave” at how his attacks on Musokotwane have come to naught.
