Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili says his statement on on ZNBC’s Sunday Interview did not refer to any specific political party or region as being tribal and wonders why it’s only the UPND that has reacted to his statement.
Mr. Kambwili told ZNBC News in a telephone interview in Livingstone that he merely said that there are certain areas where tribalism was so rife and should be stopped.
He said his statement has been deliberately misunderstood by the UPND.
And Mr. Kambwili has wondered why it has to take the UPND to defend veteran politician Vernon Mwaanga on his rigging allegations.
He said private citizens have reported Mr. Mwaanga to the police and government did not want to comment on the matter.
Meanwhile Mr. Kambwili has accused the UPND of hypocrisy over the minimum Grade 12 constitutional requirement for one to stand as a ward Councillor or Member of Parliament.
Mr. Kambwili says it was UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema who asked his MPs not to debate any clause in the draft constitution and that it should be passed as it was submitted by the Technical Committee.
He said this was despite the government calling for the constitutional bill to be debated in parliament to identify such clauses and amend them.
Mr. Kambwili said that the government is still open and ready to amend clauses which are discriminatory.
Okay now tell us, which region did refer to in your Sunday interview?
Kambwili is a f00l, with leaders like this, our country is doomed.

Kambwili may claim that he did not mention any party or region in his utterances, but it is obvious that he was referring to a particular and region. His colleagues have talked about it for quite some time.
Its very true there’s a region in Zambia that votes purely on tribal lines and everyone knows about that. That is the region where the sitting president got almost a zero vote, while he managed good votes from other regions. Also this region recorded the only different pattern in turnout. The average turnout across Zambia was 30% but in this region alone had a turnout of 50%. This are facts and Zambians can work this one out quite easily. This same region has a party with a biggest % of representative of MPs from one tribe compared with all other parties in Zambia. If that is not tribal then I don’t know what that really is.

Sunday interview was not about voting pattern as what you bloggers what others to believe. Kambwili was encouraging people to vote based on performance not tribe in order to produce quality leadership. That issue was said in less than 5minutes. The point he was stressing was that there should be mixture voting as opposed to singular.
He may have errored in his speech but bloggers should not take advantage of addressing the issue with insults. All comments against him have a bad language makin it hard to read them in full
