The Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) has challenged government to tell the nation how the US$150 million the World Bank gave the country for irrigation has been utilized.

FDD Spokesperson Antonio Mwanza has told QFM News in an interview that there is an urgent need for the government to account how this money has been used considering that the nation is in dire need of more irrigation schemes.

He says the country needs emergency irrigation projects in view of the prolonged dry spells being experienced in the country.

Mr Mwanza says it is worrying that government had indicated its intention to import maize when Agriculture Minister Given Lubinda recent assured the nation that the country has enough maize stocks in the reserves.

    • Meanwhile,we need an explanation from Nawakwi on how Zambia paid more than $4m for maize which was not delivered under the Carlington maize deal when she was Minister of Agriculture,Food & Fisheries and why millions of dollars where transferred to the Zamtrop account at ZANACO bank in London when she was Minister of Finance.

    • These are the issues the Opposition should be focussing on, providing the total figure of the loans borrowed to Zambians auditing the value/ costs of the projects borrowed against, holding the borrowers accountable for the difference , wastage in interest and repayments

  1. PF have no records or recollections of how that money was used, just like the $500 million used for Kariba rehab.
No one is accountable in this PF GRZ.
Sorry Zambians but money borrowed in you children’s names simply disappears as there are no records of its use.
