PEOPLE’s Democratic Party (PDP) president George Mpombo’s 17-year-old son yesterday appeared for mention in Ndola magistrate’s court charged with murder and attempted aggravated robbery.

The boy, who appeared before magistrate Moffat Phiri, is in the first count alleged to have murdered Ruth Phiri on January 11 this year.

In the second count, it is alleged that the juvenile tried to rob Lewis Mpundu of his property by use of actual violence. He told the court that he understood the charges.

Mr Phiri explained to the juvenile that the offences he was charged with were only triable by the High Court and that he was appearing before his court for mention only without taking plea.

The matter, which attracted scores of Ndola residents, was adjourned to February 11 for another mention as the prosecutions team awaits instructions from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The juvenile is in police custody.

  1. It is only God who can change such a person.God does not fail.He is able to change the worst criminal into the a great evangelist(Paul). He is able to change a conman into a great nation Israel(Jacob)God is able to change our shame into fame.I don’t care how the world has tagged us but God is able to give us a right tag.The world might see a young man a criminal but God is seeing a great man in him.Nothing is impossible with him if one believes. He is able to change the worst into the best. The juvinile was not born a criminal. His father wanted the best from him.He needs the hand of God to turn his life around.

  2. Why waste time and resources through judicial reviews??… The constitution provides for capital-punishment… Just put this boy to death period. Innocent until proven guilty, my foot! Not in this case!!
