Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili has directed Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company to compensate the two families of Luanshya’s Mpatamatu township whose houses were flooded with raw sewer on Thursday.

Mr. Kambwili who is also Information Minister has directed the water utility company to immediately provide food to the two families.

Mr. Kambwili, says it is unacceptable for Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company not to help the affected families who have been spending nights in the cold.

He told the families to write down all their household goods which were destroyed by sewer and submit them to the water utility company for compensation.

Mr. Kambwili made the directive when he visited the two families in Section 27 of Mpatamatu area this morning.

He said food must be given to the families by tomorrow while compensation for the household goods must be made within two weeks.

And Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company Director of Engineering Benjamin Mwale told the minister that the houses were flooded after the sewer line was blocked by silt.

Mr. Mwale said his firm was working round the clock to ensure that such an incident does not repeat itself.

  1. That is how Zambia functions. You need a stern action to do your jobs. It is pathetic – and these sewerage guys are still collecting levies and drawing salaries.

  2. It is sad that the one (I mean Kambwili) whose raw sewer spilled on the two families is the one who pretends to be more concerned.

  4. Loud Mouthed Kambwili should have first ordered the PF government to immediately pay off the huge amount it owes Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company in unpaid water bills.
The funds would have enabled the water utility adequately maintain and upgrade it’s infrastructure including the sewer systems.
Typical PF politics, crying over the spilled milk.First of all,who spilled the milk?

    • Here was once a man who told miners who had been laid off in luanshya to still report for work when they got there they found they were still laid off. I can’t for the life of me remember his name ati what’s hat guys name

  5. Prudent move Hon. Minister, may the affected households be given their items….. for they cannot afford to start afresh buying the goods they have lost due to

    • Where was the DC, the provincial minister and the health and sanitary district inspectors?

Why should this fall on the lap of the law maker?
This has nothing to do with making of laws.
      Contused Zambia.

  7. I don’t like big mouth Kambwili but on this one, good move honorable.this will send a clear message to these useless companies.

    • That’s because illiterate unqualified cadres without a basic Grade 12 qualification are running serious institutions, therefore nothing functions. Coupled with Visionless leaders, the results are Goons like Kambwili forever issuing threats & ultimatums.
Zambia is paying the price for poor management, & substandard personnel.
If you pay peanuts, you get M0nkeys!!

  8. If the house is built on a sewer line, why the he4ll should these people be compensated? You are rewarding stupidity!!!

  9. based on this man’s way of thinking, all zambians except for those in the PF govt, should be compensated for the sewerage they have spilled on the country. what a foolish scapegoat

  10. Shocking that the neckless one can use powers he does not have. Worse, he is actually cheered on by the clueless majority!

  11. @ 1:1 Pukuchwe, You have made my evening!
I cannot stop laughing, ati, “Kambwili should be tested for the Zika virus”
Are you telling me Zika missed shrinking Kambwili’s head, & instead shrunk his Neck??
The statements he’s been issuing do actually point to acute Brain damage, therefore for the benefit of Zambians please test this man & confirm if he is indeed suffering from the side effects of Zika .
    Awe’ sure naseka!!
