Reports of your girls drinking beer at School increasing-YWCA

Share

THE Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) has expressed concern over the increasing reports of young girls carrying alcoholic beverages in their drinking bottles when going to school.

YMCA Copperbelt regional co-ordinator Sharon Chisanga said in an interview yesterday that so far her office has received 15 cases of young girls drinking beer at school.

“One of the parents came here to report that their daughter came back home drunk from school. We did an investigation and actually found out that there are a lot of girls who carry alcohol to school in their drinking bottles,” Mr Chisanga said.

She urged school authorities to be vigilant and monitor the activities of pupils in school.

Ms Chisanga also appealed to parents to check what items their children carry to school.

    • Blame Lungu and Matibini. What do you expect if Kambwili and MPs debate constitution drunken? Children think you debate or express yourself well under 2 shorts of black label.

  1. What kind of booze do the girls take with them to school? Obviously, Castle or Mosi Largers would be out of reach for most of these poor souls so, must be either katankamene, mbote, konko-mfolo, kachasu or chibuku. They must be getting the stuff from their homes.

  2. …what do you expect places were bars outnumber churches….you find open beer gardens (without a wall fence) right in the midst of residential areas…male teachers proposing to girl pupils….non existence of extra curriculum activity in schools…leaked exam papers… all these contribute to the devises pupils indulge into…some just go to school just to register their presence…and to have an idea of what to expect in an exam…they don’t learn or study because at the end of the day the just ask their parents or their teacher man friend for money to buy leaked exam papers…meanwhile ‘kunwa bebele’ they just drink and socialise….bar attendant have no respect for the law which bars the under.age from patronising bars…

    • So by your assumption Churches should out number Bars..really laughable…there are places in Lusaka and the Copper-belt where that is the norm, a Church at every corner and in every Event Hall on Weekends; all the tithing tax-free money that is collected ends up funding the Priest’s and Pastor’s life style; even with poverty right outside.
Its all down to poorly funded councils the funds collected from all these bars is misappropriated elsewhere and any Katemba can sell alcohol without a licence…you even have underages in night clubs and behind the bar.

  3. I found out that my wife has been hiding for many many years that she no longer drinks. I never used to drink. So I started stealing her hidden beer drinks and that is how I am now a wasted drunkard. Kikikikiki. Meanwhile Over 70% of the female teachers I know drink castle lite hunters amarula flying fish and…… and these girls are may be coming what their mothers do
