State power utility has announced that it has withdrawn its tariff hike application submitted to the Energy Regulation Board (ERB)
In a statement, ZESCO said it is withdrawing the application to revise upwards tariffs for all its customer categories including Residential, Commercial, Services and Maximum Demand.
It said the application to withdraw the proposal has since been approved by the ERB which effectively means that applicable tariffs with effect from midnight of 5th February 2016 are those that were in effect before 2nd December 2015.
It also noted that the billing process for post-paid customers implies that customers will only receive bills on the applicable tariffs in March 2016.
The power utility said it remains committed to tariff migration towards cost reflectivity adding that in future, ZESCO will apply to the ERB for a tariff adjustment which will be in line with the Cost of Service Study.

The most useless and senseless govt Zambia has ever had. PFools are flip-flopping their way into record books of bloody mediocrity. These PFools cannot ever take a well considered decision. Instead they try out mad schemes and then rescind decisions after seeing that they do not work. Next is a total repeal of the new constitutional amendments barely one month after The Drunkard signed them into law.
What happens to the mad bills for January 3016 that were 4 times the normal ones? Should they be paid or will Zesco issue new ones? By rescinding their application to ERB it means that those bills are not valid and Zesco must issue revised bills on the old tariff.
PF is the most useless and senseless govt Zambia has ever had. They are flip-flopping their way into the record books for the most useless govt in the world. It is as if they try these mad schemes on unsuspecting citizens and then wait for reactions before U-turning. Next, we demand a total repeal of the amended Constitution within one month of it being enacted into law.
