United Party for National Development(UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema has challenged Republican President Edgar Lungu and Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanjanga to produce the names of the alleged UPND cadres who were involved in the violence over the weekend and their UPND card numbers and the Party will deal with them decisively.
In a statement released to the media in which he attacked the President for only commenting on violence when it affects PF cadres, Mr Hakainde said that his party does not condone violence, has told UPND cadres, even when faced with machete wielding assailants, that should leave the scene rather than leave a bloody scene.

LET US ALL CONDEMN VIOLENCE
We are appalled by the hypocritical and double standards exhibited by President Edgar Lungu when it comes to violence. It is dangerous to have a President who only sees violence when it involves alleged opposition party members. Two weeks ago our members were savagely attacked in Sinda constituency under his watch, he was mute. Miles Sampa was attacked at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport, he was mute. When Grayzier Matapa was murdered President Lungu mocked the incident. Davies Chama, his Secretary General shot someone in Mulobezi; Kaizer Zulu produced a gun in a public place and the man was mute. UPND offices in Mongu and Kitwe were damaged by known PF people, Lungu was quiet. Kapwepwe his own cadres was beaten at his watch for simply telling President Lungu that he was the only one enjoying himself. We can go on and on but this is not the subject of this statement.
I repeat let the President and the IG show me any of those people, and once it is established that they are our cadres, we will take decisive action.
Now we hear him issuing stern instructions to police to arrest anyone perpetuating violence for political ends. This is after it is alleged that UPND cadres attacked some people that were attending his meetings in Bweengwa. Let me assure President Lungu and the Inspector General of Police that should any of those people perpetuating violence be linked to UPND, I will personally deal with those cases and condemn them publicly; that is leadership. UPND members carry cards, and I am challenging police to produce those people and their card numbers and we will deal with those cases decisively. We do not condone violence, even when we are faced with machete wielding assailants we have told our cadres to leave the scene rather than leave a bloody scene. Unlike the PF which is arming its cadres and dressing them in military attire while the President plays blind to this reality, we are peaceful.
President Lungu’s legacy in the country will be that of hatred and bloodshed in our once peaceful country. Watch these upcoming months leading to the elections, watch the behaviour of his party PF. He has challenged me to deal with the cadres and I repeat let the President and the IG show me any of those people, and once it is established that they are our cadres, we will take decisive action. I am also challenging President Lungu and the IG to cage their unruly cadres some of whom were seen as late as Wednesday last week breaking all the traffic rules while police watched helplessly. “He who comes to equity, must come with clean hands.” Zambians know which party is violent and they will take action to bury that party come 11th August 2016.

The first thing you need to do is condemn any violence that perpetrated and then ask for identity of cadres. But you no very well that all cadres, either PF or UPND do not carry cards especially when they are performing violent activities. Read the articles, the police said the cadres were hostage takers and that the police rescued the hostages. This is the only time I hear of hostages being rescued without mention of the takers. So it is assumed that the takers are in police custody and will reveal who paid them or prove beyond reasonable which the party they belong. So let them show their ids and membership.

The biggest culprit in this political game remains ECL. He has embraced violence as high as State House. He has to date, failed to discipline his own people. Many of these incidents may fade with time, but I doubt whether the Ndola incident will ever die a natural death and ECL was on watch when that happened. HH, Nawakwi, GBM, and so may others are hated for speaking the truth. One minister says the treasury is depleted while the other says the Zambia has enough foreign reserves. The residents of southern province have resolved that they will not rest or vote for any non-Tonga President. UPND as a party has trained them to think like that. Since that Party was started almost 17 years ago, their core aim has been to install a Tonga President who will “teach” other tribes how to run the economy and country. Be in no doubt IF HH won the election his first thing would be to humiliate and victimize persons from Northern and Easter provinces of Zambia. If you are voter from these regions, please don’t forget what happened between 2001 – 2008.

What hostility lies between the Bemba and Tonga tribes? The underlying factor should be addressed urgently because its synonymous to Kenya’s Luo-Kikuyu animosity which resulted to ethnic cleansing of the later. The verbal reckless reference of tribes is a time-bomb whose explosion is hard to contain. The sooner citizens observe nationality at the expense of ethnicity, the safer for a country. The constitution should give the ECZ the power to deregister candidates promoting violence or failing (deliberately) to contain it in their strongholds. Let peace prevail.

The only wise man who condemns violence everyday! This is the only Zambian politician worth the vote of the millions peace loving people. All my 200 plus members of my extended family will vote for you Sir.
