Mazabuka MP Gary Nkombo

UPND Mazabuka Member of Parliament Garry Nkombo has accused the PF of systematically withdrawing human rights and freedoms of individuals in the country.

Mr Nkombo observed that the PF’s record on human rights abuse cannot be compared to the MMD as sometof the freedoms which were being enjoyed under the MMD have systematically been withdrawn.

He explained that MPs had to negotiate their way to visit their constituencies something he said never use to happen under the MMD.

“My view is that even MMD was much better than PF on the account of human rights abuse, on the account of systematic withdraw of human rights and freedoms of individuals.

We even as MPs had to negotiate our way to go and perform our representative role, all MPs, you know very well those of you who associate with the police that they had to issue a circular to the police to say the MP is now permitted to go and have a meeting with his constituency, under PF. I was a Member of Parliament under MMD and I never even on a single day went the police to say that I am now in the constituency and I would like to go to this place or that, now we are all caged, its a banana republic,” he said.

And Mr Nkombo said the PF has been recruiting cadres to the Police and security wings of the country.

“Impartiality and non partisanship has never played a party in the PF’s recruitment, whether you say Police, whether you say ZAF or the Army its PF cadres, t the only recruitment were there is no partisanship I think is teachers and maybe nurses but in these other recruitments its all PF cadres,” he said.

    • As for you, and regrettably you use that vernacular , discourse is hampered by below belt thinking…..you do better to use your grey matter in your head than that hidden organ on on/in groin.

    • Compatriots,

We have seen the one party, no term limit syndrome taking root in east-central Africa. Erstwhile heros are now lifelong dictators. Check out nkuruzinza , et al. Democracy requires eternal vigilance.

I condole with progressive citizens of Burundi , Zimbabwe , Congo , Uganda and yes whatever Kagame might say, Rwanda .

Even china has stpped this nonsense!

    • Garry Nkombo talks like he’s the law and and not a law maker.

The question is the police ask you to notify them before you hold meetings in your, are they doing so under the provisions of the existing laws?

If your answer is yes……..it’s the law stup!d

    • How STU..PID for a CURRENT SITTING MP to complain about it – YOU SHOLUD BE IN THE FOREFRONT RAISING IT IN PARLIAMENT – not for you to be throwing your arms up in the air crying you can’t do anything about it – WHY THE HECK ARE YOU PAID TO BE IN PARLY – RAISE IT with the SPEAKER -really a DISAPPOINTING STATEMENT for a party that people are looking up to!!!

    • two wrongs don’t make any right. @ SKODOGOI while condemining Canicius I feels u ddint need to write that……the only difference is you used English and he used vernacular

  1. Public order is necessary for continued peace- you sneak into some constituencies and get clobbered @ police are unfair- they’re only trying to protect you from riling some unruly and overzealous cadres

    • Continue you will know this law better in the first few weels after you lose before new laws are passed to remove us from banana republic status

  2. The uupnd has slowly been turned into a puppet of the west championing western motives- talking about ‘rights’ shrouded in the so called ‘bill of rights’ will be ushering in homosexuality which will add misery to our already ailing healthy system- I’ll vote NO to the ‘bill of rights’!

  3. You nkombo with your upnd will never appreciate this government in anyway. As much as you talk about negatives can you also mention the positives from this government? Does it mean when you’re in opposition is to oppose everything? Woke up!!

    • @MB – You really amaze me! The above blogger used all his punctuation correctly and only had one typo error in writing the word “Woke” instead of “Wake”. You can’t blame him for that.

In fact you are blaming this blogger with mistakes in your punctuation. You write “@Tatulaba its wake up!” instead of writing “@Tatulaba it’s wake up!”.
May be you don’t EVEN see the difference but it is in the word “it’s”……Apostrophe ( ’ ) is missing in your sentence. PLEASE DO NOT BLAME THOSE WITH A SPECK IN THEIR EYES WHEN YOU HAVE A HUGE LOG IN YOUR’S.

  4. Development and democracy are Siamese twins.

Human freedom is a prerequisite to enterprise and sustainable entrepreneurship.

And human rights as we learnt at Lawskool are inealianable and non-derogable. That explains the sanctity of Part III of our Constitution; only a referendum can alter a word of this part!!!

  5. A PF and Bemba woman was stripped naked/ undressed by Tongas in Mazabuka. Dandy crazy was almost killed by Tongas in Choma Where are the human rights in Tongaland? Southern province is the only province where other parties are not free to campaugn. We shall vote and behave like you Nkombo

  6. Comment: You are just trying to attract sympathy from foreign countries so that when you lose you will cry out that this is what we were telling you. When signs of losing are obvious this is what the opposition react. It’s always abuse of human rights, Poa, etc. No blood will be shed no matter who wins.

  7. Open doors so that other parties can campaign freely in Tongaland. Let HH go for a convetion. These a big logs in your eyes which should be removed first.

  8. Let us avoid voting forr puppet regimes like Tsvangirai of Zimbabwe tried to be imposed on the people- the ‘western’ countries are in dire straits and busy masturbating economics for their survival- see how they’re muscling the ‘BRICS’ countries for trying to match and out pace their their economic conduits of IMF and World bank- better we discard the US dollar for Chinese currency- how many are buying US or European products? All roads lead to China!

    • @ Fu*k1ng Finn

      Brazil, in a recession, inflation over 25%, unemployment at 40%, Currency slightly better that Kwacha, corruption out of hand;
      Russia, inflation at 50%, unemployment at 40%, supporting dictator in Syria, loosing two billion dollars per month out of 56 billion reserve;
      India, only performer in BRICS;
China, Stock exchange lost 65% value, currency devalued 3 times in last 6 months, banking crisis getting worst by hour, growth down by 45%, reserves down by 30%, unemployment up by 35%!!!
Wow, all roads lead to china???

  9. PF has taken Zambia back to Stone Age! Zambians must take PF back to the opposition on 11 August 2016. Then the country will see some progress!

    • #P Kazhila you are so disillusioned! In a normal society, not all can be equal. Even in America the richest country in the world, there are very poor and neglected towns one would think they are in a third world. It would be folly to link the likes of Misisi compound to the current government. Give credit where it is due, but I know you wont because your abhorrence to PF is enormous.

  10. I can only concur with Nkombo if the definition of democracy and human rights mean otherwise. I blog in many international editorials and without fear of contradiction, I can rank Zambia as among the top ten most democratic nations in the world and top in Africa. Unfortunately Zambians are not aware and they go overboard misusing this freedom. Where else can you describe a seating president as a drunkard (whether true or false) and go scotfree? Come to Kenya and sarcastically malign a tribe or province as you do to Tongas and Bembas and you will land in jail. My fellow bloggers in various countries have been murdered for questioning poor governance. How many times has HH been arrested for political reasons like Uganda’s Besigye? Nkombo should demystify his far-fetched allegations.

    • #Man Kenya. Wooow, I salute you for logical, sensible and honest comment! Unfortunately, many Zambians especially those in opposition choose to pay a blind eye to this fact. Thank you for raising this point.

    • @ Man Kenya

Where are you blogging? Russia? PRC? North Korea? Eritrea? Ethiopia? Sudan? Uganda? Venezuela? Cuba? Angola? ………………………..
Please, be objective. Democracy is not just blabbing on the net. What about independence of Judiciary? Police? Rule of law? Supremacy of Parliament? Immunity of MP’s? Accountability?
I wonder who are the other nine “democracies” according to your “expert” rating?
      Please advise.

  11. Kazhila you’re living in the stone age?We must be in another dimension because i’ve seen progress under PF, Nkanga ndiija ilimumanja- I won’t go chasing after wild goose politicians when I can see experienced politicians at hand.

    • If you were here at the time of MMD you will know what I’m talking about. Start by passing through Lumumba road and then go to Misisi township and see what is going on. If your conclusion will still be that PF has done well, I’ll be surprised. Development of a nation is about uplifting the living conditions of the ordinary citizens not just the politicians, their relatives and friends. By the way, I don’t belong to any political party. I’m just a concerned citizen!

  12. Nkombo nkombo nkombo ur a fool and if u ever think of POA to be squashed u will never achieve it, this act is needed for the sake of peace and stability in our country….ur th same people MPs who roganize yo cadres to attack innocent ppl for th sake of yo own selfish interests which u knw the POA does not allow u hence u need permission to go there….we are the most democratic country and this must not be taken for granted…..#IFINTU NI ………u can finish Nkombo

  13. PF IS A GOVERNMENT OF THREATS, HARASSMENT AND INTIMIDATION, ALL AIMED AT CONCEALING THEIR OWN WEAKNESSES IN RUNNING OUR COUNTRY. ZAMBIANS HAVE NOW COME TO A CONCLUSION, THAT EDGAR LUNGU AND HIS PF TEAM HAVE FAILED DISMALLY TO MANAGE THE AFFAIRS OF THE COUNTRY. ZAMBIANS HAVE NOW REACHED A CONSENSUS TO REMOVE EDGAR LUNGU AND HIS PF MINIONS FROM POWER COME AUGUST 11 2016. LUNGU MUST VACATE OFFICE BECAUSE HE HAS DENIED OUR COUNTRY AND OUR PEOPLE WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO GROW OUR RICHES. LUNGU IS A THIEF AND A CRIMINAL, NO WONDER ZAMBIANS HAVE REJECTED LUNGU.

  14. state where the govt has failed. state what you have done for yourself since PF came to power. What have you done to suport this govt. Is it you failing govt or otherwise? Be careful before judging

    • Under PF, the economy is bad: GDP down from 6% to below 3%; sales for most businesses have declined; The kwacha is now worthless from K4.5 per US$ to K11.4 per US$; Inflation has gone up from 6% to 21.6%; There are job losses every where; lawlessness, especially by PF cadres; Corruption is high: PF cadres are being given infrastructure development contracts even when they have no idea of what to do. They get the contracts and sale them to the Chinese. PF cadres are now Tenderpreneurs! PF HAS FAILED COMPLETELY!

    • @P

Get real! What of all the Roads and Infrastructure building you enjoy currently? Completely….. is being dramatic!

  15. Only fools will disagree with Hon Garry Nkombo, when are correct government comes into this nonsense will end. LT is a PF forum it has gone to the dogs.

  16. TAYALI(2016:12):”If HH wants to preach good deeds, justice and fairness, let him do what Zacchaeus did in the Bible after he met Jesus (Luke 19:1-10). Zacchaeus did, to give half of his wealth back to the people other than holding on to it.”

  17. TAYALI(2016:13) “HH BLESSES VIOLENCE – IT IS LIKE HEROISM
As a Christian, one does not look at justifying oneself of wrongdoing especially violence. HH never takes responsibility of the violence perpetrated by his cadres, rather he justifies evil act by accusing others especially PF.

  18. I am glad Gary Nkombo is finally out of the shell he has been making statements fit for the next President of upnd when HH loses and finally steps down after 2016. This is how a leader should think and speak. I listened to GN speak on radio has articulate spoke with confidence and not with the emotions the losing Opposition leader HH speaks with…I listened to GN debate the motion on the energy crisis he gave history about the way Uganda got it wrong and how can avoid similar pitfalls..this is the man who will lead the PArty victory not the afro bearing out of touch HH….FORWARD with GN….President the UPND in waiting ..2016 hh swaaaa

  19. 11 august 2016 boys will be separated from men, online yes upnd are the best world over and have very good english learned fellows thumbs up but ifintu ni LUNGU selatubombeko

  20. apa naizanda they are alot who are eying for that position of running mate in UPND that is why shakafuswa is always coming strong against HH coz he knows that GBM C.Banda bashi NONO VJ they are upto no good drama will keep on unfolding lets wait and see, what happened in PF in 2014 prior to the elections will start happening in UPnd very soon, already they have started sidlining themselves, many zambians loved upnd when sakwiba sikota was the vice to mazoka, failing to go for aconvention simply means they have a dictator their party ifwe tulifye tondolo ba miles baliya in good faith ba kabimba, bashi nono but we are still intact, micheal sat laid a very strong foundation for pf hence we do not tolerate corruption

  21. Upnd Shuld Convince Zambians In Remote Areas 2 Vote 4 Them Than Crying And Look 2 USA And Europe 2 Solve Their Problms.USA And Europe Countries Hav Good Law But Takes Many Years 2 Reach That Level And Has Country Which Respect Democracy We Are Heading 2 Mature One In Africa.

    • Oh, and what type of drivel is this BA @penias.

American history shows how their democracy was earned. Talk about confederates, Yankies, Boston Tea Party, Red Indians and Cowboys, pilgrims…Abraham Lincoln….it’s a colourful history that shows how they came to blows until they agreed to work together in proper democracy, bill of rights, freedoms etc etc.

We are on our way. Multi- Party democracy is giving us a little headache at the moment, but we will get there. Not by HH who comes to cheat the Zambian people by secession of Zambian Provinces.

  22. Mmembe has already given hh a running mate, Winter Kabimba- elyo lwanya Mu upNdown! What’ll happen to Mutale Nalumango and gbm? Nkombo is already campaigning

  23. Why the hell are you still in Zambia then? Clearly it’s a terrible country according to you misleading write up.

This is misconstruing the Zambian political landscape. What he says is abuse of Human Rights and freedom of the person etc is actually a twisted reasoning. The fact is that opposition parties in Zambia represent themselves by speaking down the country. By ‘working up’ the citizens to believe things could be better under their rule. Opposition then play politics of aggression and intimidation which more than boarders on criminal misconduct to force a run in with the law and gov’t. Out of the run in with the law and gov’t who obviously must keep order come these ill constructed arguments of personal freedom limitations. Is there any truth in this….well, I would…

  24. well, I would suggest the gov’t actually need to impose even tighter control by curfews at certain hours to prevent Cadres meandering about late at night causing bother and intimidation. Impose tighter controls on Cadres mobilising large groups. Impose tighter controls on the campaign season. And finally, they must cut HH to size. He is completely an out of order character whose benefitted from Zambian wealth but goes about speaking Zambia down internationally. As for interfering Diplomats and other international bodies supporting opposition groups in this made-up cry of personal/political freedoms, please remind them if countries like Ethiopia which went into internal war booting out large American and foreign communities settled there that had been friends of the country. We…

    • @patriot Abroad stop there.Zambia siyanyoko do you understand. We in UPND now mean business.we know we are wining but we want to protect every vote. The diplomats of super power countries did not meet for a joke.We want to out smart you.If possible take you to huege for trail for human rights abuse like Bagbo of ivory cost.If you resist we blow your eyes out like Gadafi of Libya. What is Zambia and Lungu’s outdated PF army.We want to make sure we bring back civilization to Zambia ,these dunderhead heads are ripping our economy.Power should go back to the people.

    • @Zemuntu you dull Baboon.you simply decampaining your selve.Abash stone age politics.HH is giving you sleepless nights .Mwachepa saana.

  25. We can’t have foreign bodies encouraging and giving voice this type of unjustified complaint. I think we should also impose a limitation on outputs from the mouth as well. There is too much aggressive language addressing the Office of the President. It makes our country a free for all. Bandit country where people like HH Can operate like a small side gov’t on the side on luscious Zambian soil to promote their ambitions.

  26. YOU HAVE ALL MISSED IT. WE ARE REPLACING HH WITH ANOTHER CONTENDER

It is becoming more clearer that the UPND has better candidates than HH and soon the truth will dawn that a vibrant and winning formula is already laid. We have had enough losses and we can’t risk 11 August with all the commotion already being witnessed from the onset of the 50+1 formula by the ruling “Pangas”. I will not hesitate to come out in the open if I hear HH is standing because he has caused us heartache, headache and nausea! It is our time to rule. All this borrowing of thieves and thugs from PF is time wasting and ridiculous. Most of those chaps like GBM since they came have made us weaker because they are so weak politically. bye bye HH. VIVA GN. BB, Kalomo

  27. @ Short ‘d!ck head’ memory- why are you such a myopic stolid dweeb! You seem to jump at every comment reminiscent of your ungracious party of naughty demagogues. Mere criticism will not render your tribal leader any better than our current crop of politicians- no job on training at state house- second term presidents perform better without undue re-election pressure and that is why I look forward to ECL’s re-election.

  28. Nega nega during the 2015 bye elections revealed a lot of hidden agendas in Zambia!!!!!

August 11 it will be Tongans v Zambians!

  29. this year it will be TONGANS VS ZAMBIANS heroes and unity cup final to be co-hosted by ECZ and JUDICIARY,participants will come from lusaka, northern, northwestern, luapula, muchinga, eastern southern, western, central and coppertbelt provinces, prize presentation will be at heroes stadium, third and forth will be played at mulungushi conference centre.

  30. I like it when PF cadres begin to insult meaning they can feel the heat. They begging to loose focus. We shall show the exist do soon don’t wory. After that we shall develop Zambia never seen before so that no riff ruff will ever aspire to be president in Zambia.

  31. Rather fight for law and order in Zambian politics. Institute a law to that effect, and that soon. Outlaw political violence. Those caught violating such law should be subjected to severe and gruesome penalties.

  32. The tendency by these politicians has been to sing the song against political violence when it’s their party on the receiving end. Like the PF, UPND are not innocent when it comes to political violence.

  33. What democracy and Human rights are you talking about Garry if your party has not held any convention for the past 10 years. All you know in your party is WAMUYAYAYA like it was in the UNIP era.

  34. When you choose to play their game, they, in turn, will choose to play your game. It soon become a vicious cycle. It’s what political violence has become in Zambia.

  35. Very surprising nkombo should educate upnd cadre on attacking non upnd members. Mind you upnd is not bigger than zambia. Zambia is made up of zambians but upnd is made of politicians. Same mp walks away in serious debates let him protest in parliament not leaving until his concern is heard by the house. Useless mps nothing to show off expired politicians. UPND members what will happen if you lose elections

  36. Check Nkombo’s right eye, it’s pointed directly at the young lady with black shiny hair and a leopard dress. The tonga bull is only looking..
