Now PF to Stage Street Protest Against Diplomats over HH’s meeting with Donors

The ruling PF has written to the Zambia Police requesting a permit to hold a demonstration where it will denounce some Ambassadors accredited to Zambia for holding a luncheon with UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema.

PF sources said the demonstration is planned for next week and that placards insulting some diplomats have already been prepared.

The demonstration is expected to start from Addis Ababa Round About and the PF cadres will walk around the diplomatic square which houses a number of Embassies before reaching the Chinese Embassy to present what they are calling a Letter of Appreciation to the Chinese Embassy for not participating in the luncheon.

Below is the letter written by the PF’s Information Committee to the Zambia Police Service.

REF: NOTICE OF A SOLIDARITY MATCH ON TUESDAY 1ST MARCH 2016.

Reference is made to the above subject matter.

We write to notify you that the Patriotic Front Information Committee will be holding a solidarity match to the Chinese Embassy on Tuesday 1st March 2016 to commend them for not being part of a clandestine meeting that took place recently.

We will be presenting a letter of appreciation to the Embassy for respecting and observing the Vienna Convention on the Conduct of Representatives of foreign governments in countries they serve.

Our starting point for the match will be at Addis Ababa Round About and the number of people participating will be 50.

Your cooperation and support is always appreciated.

Cant President Lungu just tell the diplomats directly that he is not happy instead of this low class action he is planning to take. Didnt Nevers Mumba claim that he has met more diplomats than any other person in Zambia just yesterday?

      Im now beginning to think that the propaganda against HH is due to the fact that PF is scared of him. This move will bring more publicity for HH. Also, dont forget that these same diplomats are funding numerous projects in Zambia. The German ambassador already confirmed this.

    • How does the head of state allow cadres to tell of diplomats?Surely there is somebody with sense amongst the advisors to the President who can tell him this is not a done thing.   7. What a Reverend? I expected a Reverend to be level headed and provide inspiring leadership not this street mentality! If PF has real leaders they should stop this nonsense!! They should listen to what their Foreign Affairs Minister said and then sit down and start looking at how to prepare to win elections. I hope the police in their wisdom will deny them a permit as what Diplomats did is not worth a demo! How many times did Sata receive various Diplomats at his office and like what Nevers’ representative,Sambo said, there is nothing extra ordinary about that visit except it was at HH’s request and at his home! Fun that they are taking a letter of appreciation for the Chinese ambassador in a group, kikiki,some Reverend,they should instead give citizens letters of appreciation for voting for them.The meeting they are cooked up about is not even near getting votes for HH,they risk looking dumb because knowing the Chinese,they will not accept the letter because it is ingrained traditionally that an Asian to save face than be involved in a tricky situation.

  11. I just hope that things doesn’t come to pass. The diplomats are within their diplomatic rights to interact with all sections of Zambian society without any hindrance. If the demonstration does happen it will tarnish the image of the country and that of China. Let reason prevail in both the PF leadership and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The country does not need bad publicity in the run up to the general elections. What happened in Uganda is bad publicity enough for democracy in Africa.

    • Where did you learn that? I am a former Zambian career diplomat who served under the KK, FTJ, LPM and RBB Administrations but I have not heard or learnt that through out my entire 35 year Foreign Service career. In short, you are telling a half truth. Is the glass half full or half empty?

    As for people saying that there is a conflict in understanding considering Kalaba’s damage limitation exercise in watering down the visits; there is no duplicity in this planned march. The citizens act to inform the gov’t and other international bodies of their personal take on the matter. This march us not gov’t policy or plan.     • It’s called culture and understanding those cultures in countries where you are stationed is wise. Zambia has a culture of violence, joshing and jousting before elections. Something they know very well and a bit of delicacy was required. Why not wait until Parliament dissolved to start fleeting opposition groups? At that stage there would be no party to offend.

The issue really is diplomats must surely be diplomatic in their exploits especially during sensitive times like elections in a country like Zambia where Cadres are order of the political game! You could have people fighting in a country! Also the fact African diplomats were ignored is serious.

    Parents of students from UNZA and CBU tried to stage a peace protest to petition the minister to re open the two universities what happened? They were denied. But you will see these cadres who do not even have a good cause but to please their masters and get chibuku will be allowed.

  79. It sees diplomats are for PF only according to PF. What a shame to PF government. Is there no one in PF who could stop that nonsense? Diplomats are meant for Zambians regardless of political affiliation. What is PF worried for if it has done massive development over HH inviting diplomats? Why did the PF not protest when I invited 2 diplomats at my house although I do not belong to any political party? Fear to lose election will make PF lose this coming election. PF is even scared of Sampa – Block Ndola Airport. I have never seen a Christian Nation that has hatred towards one political party to another. We need to pray so that God gives us wisdom in choosing the right president – president Lungu, HH or Nawakwi. It is time for these leaders to tell us how they will cure our bad economy.

  80. Technically it would have made sense if PF was protesting over the closure of 2 universities and other institutions. Lack of priorities and right things to do. Protesting over the police not to have more power than political cadres of PF and UPND would have made sense.

  82. The partial reporting in our country will combust it sooner or later. I believe what the diplomats did is nothing new; they have been meeting political players from the time multipartyism was ushered in; even Sata dated them a few times when in opposition. The problem here is the way the reporters (journalists with an agenda) put out their news for consumption. It is a shame to see how manipulation has become the order of the day because of interest groups and orientation. Even the foreign press is not immuned. Just look at Fox news, CNN, BBC and you get the picture, especially when you now look at some other leanings like PressTV, RT, and the Turkish press. The same news is reported like it has happened multiple times differently! It is shameful.

  83. Proof that the Diplomats’ Lunch with HH has rattled the PF. Initially, Kalaba tried to undermine it by saying that it is normal.
    BUT now the message has started to sink in the PF skulls that they are going! Even South Africa wants them to go and wishes HH the very best!!
    Even if they demonstrate, the reality is that they are GOING!!

  88. Do these cadres understand what they have been incited to do? How many times did Sata receive diplomats before he was president? ECL should order the cadres not to demonstrate otherwise he will be expose a lack of control of his cadres. These are people who don’t really care what happens to the country. They live for the now! Poor Zambia!
