National Patron of the Presidential Empowerment Initiative Fund for Marketeers and Vendors Chanda Kabwe says the fund is a vehicle for uplifting the living standards of millions of poor marketeers and vendors in the country.

Mr Kabwe said successive governments have for a long time over looked marketeers and vendors when they are the people sustaining millions of lives in the country.

He explained that the fund is aimed at boosting businesses in Zambian markets as well as on the streets.

He said in the last three months three thousand (3,000) marketeers and vendors on the Copperbelt and Kasama have so far benefited from the interest free loans issued through the disbursement of a two million kwacha (K2,000,000) adding that 20,000 marketeers and vendors in Eastern, Luapula, Muchinga and Northen Provinces are expected to receive these interest free loans in the next three months.

Meanwhile Mr Kabwe says some unscrupulous people claiming to represent the PF corrected money from marketeers in Mansa for loan forms when there are no payments required as President Lungu has already paid for fees.

He said the people who were doing so were crooks and that the law enforcement agencies are on alert to arrest anyone found wanting.

He assured the nation that the loans are meant to empower the marketeers and vendors and that they are not political.

This is contained in a statement issued to the media by Mr Kabwe who is also Kitwe District Commissioner.

    • Donchi Kubeba part 2 comes to mind. Collect all the money Lungu gives you, it’s already your money – your tax money pays his livelihood. Now spend that money but don’t give him your vote. He can’t get credit he doesn’t deserve! Zambia…forward!

    • This is not how to pool a country out of an economic melt down bwana president. You area of work is to ensure the economy is stable through policy formulation and implementing programmes in a prudent manner. That way lending institutions will do the job of lending to SMEs throughout the year and not what you are doing just a the time of elections.

    • So this Marketeer empowerment is only for Northern, Muchinga, Luapula and Eastern plus selected areas in Lusaka and Copperbelt? How selective! And you think people can not see this is just a campaign gimmick?

People know who means well for the country. They know what genuine empowerment looks like. People will vote for a real chance for decent livelihoods and a better future come August 11.

  1. This boy’s end will be very bad. He is not serving as Dc for Kitwe but as pf carder. He is just stealing the moneys and chagwa doesn’t know. Zambians have changed and no matter how you bribe them many won’t vote for you Pf. Universities are closed because the money to be given to students is being used to bride marketeers who already know that they are just being bribed. Uko ka Chanda no bupulumushi bobe

  2. though some may view them with suspicion such safety nets are unavoidable especially in times of economic distress. its quite hard but where there doesnt seem to be any NGO capable of pooling enough resources, govt turns out to be the most optimal vehicle for the undertaking

  3. And when are you distributing in the other 4 provinces that you don’t like ba PF. Its clear that you are segregating some parts of Zambia in the way you distribute national cake and yet you claim to be developing all parts of the country. You are not for national unit.

  4. unfweni bane, instead of improving the economy, PF is now targeting individuals who are fewer than the zambian population. What a disgusting strategy

  5. These funds are a ticket for corruption …who audits these selfsame funding vehicle…how can one man simply wake up and order thousands of solar hammermills from China.

  6. Where can a K2,000.00 take someone in this harsh economic climate.
Let marketeers use that money to buy food at home. The funds are a
    farewell gift.

  7. Why leaving out North Western,Western and Southern provinces moreover these are provinces which are a back bone of Zambia.
Kariba dam is from Zambezi river whose source is in North Western,Major hydro power stations are in Southern,Mines are in North Western province and when people say this PF government is segregative then somebody says one Zambia one nation.
North Western, southern and Western province open your eyes.

  8. T0ngas are natural sadists, they don’t want to see others succeed or make various achievements. That is part of their DNA. When you are surrounded by them, you should consider yourself to be in danger even if they show you their fake teeth.
Most people from other tribes who have had this experience I bring to you will definately agree with what I talking about.

It itches them so badly to see other tribes making progress in what they do. when people say Zambians want to see their frnds fail or they stab each others back; I totally disagree with this saying. Let us see who is behind the devilish acts and make a correct conclusion. Have you seen a tonga betraying or hit the fellow tonga like most tribes do?
