We wish to thank the Chinese embassy for turning down an ill aimed solidarity letter by PF cadres. It is gratifying to note that the embassy of China has demonstrated that the meeting between President Hakainde Hichilema and diplomats is a common practice in developed democracies.
We also wish to state that UPND respects the rule of law and People centered leadership in addressing numerous economic challenges our country is faced with.
We in the UPND believe in globalization, international diplomacy and sovereignty our country and as such can only hold such high level meetings with diplomats in public interest.
When UPND takes over leadership in August this year, we will ensure diplomats are free to hold meetings with Zambians as long as international diplomatic etiquette is adhered to.
We sincerely thank the Chinese government for the support and cordial relations we enjoyed with them over the years.

it was rather demeaning for a simple party like PF in such a poor country to think they coud drag down the integrity of such a powerful country. China enjoys immense relationshis with the western world, in particular, France and Germany. Chinese technology finds its roots in these countries and their relationship is like that of twins. I lived in China and I know this.
certainly, Zambia does not qualify to dismember this relationship.

Look at the irony of this whole interpretation of China’s silent conduct. Silence is yes or no. If PF send a commendation for staying out of diplomatic interference, would it not be ridiculous and duplicitous for them to have acted openly in a diplomatic row? Receiving PF would have been undiplomatic in the community as they would openly condemn USA, UK and Germany.

We are not aware the Chinese embassy turned down the commendation letter. They acted diplomatically and did not fan the flames by outwardly taking sides unlike the USA, UK and German embassies did.
You clearly failed to understand the consternation and unnecessary political storm caused by the actions of ambassador Shultz’s open misconduct in leading discussions on elections pre the dissolution of Zambian parliament and before the electoral campaigning season begins. Yes they did, it is such a shame. Now Poor Lungu has to fight it out not only with HH but the entire diplomatic corps, I wonder what information they have on poor Lungu the way they are behaving. If they have some information please share it with us so that we know why they as foreigners don’t like the PF government. The letter should have just been posted than allowing 50 cadres to deliver a letter . Diplomats are not meant for cadres
Harry Kalaba had cheated the nation that Edger Lungu and PF had no problem with diplomats having lunch with HH.He described the meeting as sign of growing democracy in Zambia. But where are the cadres getting the strength to over rule Harry Kalaba the Minister of Foreign affairs I suspect from Top leadership
