Minister of Agriculture Given Lubinda has accused opposition political parties of trying to destabilise the price of mealie meal by telling people that the country does not have enough maize.

Mr Lubinda says the country has enough maize but some politicians are misinforming people especially in rural areas.

The Minister has told parliament today that the high price of mealie meal in some parts of the country is due to rampant smuggling of the commodity.

Mr Lubinda said this in response to Chongwe MP Sylvia Masebo and Mpongwe MP Gabriel Namulambe who wanted to know measures government is taking to address the shortage of mealie meal in some parts of the country.

    • from global to opposition, pathetic. These PF guys have totally failed. Lubinda is admitting govt failure to stop smuggling…I bet it is the opposition doing that as well. The sad part of this is that Edgar believes these lies from his ministers

  1. No wonder he looks as though he had been drinking kachasu all night long. This man is so dull, the PF has been farting in the room when it stinks, he starts to accuse the people outside. He should look no farther but within PF.
Kambwili has been in the forefront of smuggling maize out of the country. His trucks were caught loading maize at night in the shades in Solwezi and yet nothing was done. The PF is smuggling maize and mealie meal out of the country. Lucinda must stop blaming the opposition.

  2. Lubinda the illuminary of yesteryear. When he chose to join the opposition PF instead of the ruling MMD some of us sighed with relief as we believed he was bringing something of special value to MCS & Kambwili’s style of politics. But alas the man has tasted power & what’s remaining of him is just zayelo.

  3. We’ve been here before…. I’m old enough to remember the days when UNIP blamed everything on the “work of the enemy…”

  4. What next? Opposition is “hoarding”? Opposition is “South African saboteurs”? Why do we fail to think of something new

  5. Mr. Lubinda,
There is no need for opposition to “destabilize” price of mealie meal. You and your colleagues have already accomplished that four months ago.

Where is gone money from sale of maize? Treasury? Farmers? Or it has been divided among leadership?
    Shame on you!!!
