THE United Party for National Development (UPND) will continue to fantasize its popularity and dreaming about winning the general elections in August this year and it is a sheer waste of time to talk about the party, the Patriotic Front (PF) has charged.

PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri the UPND would continue being in the opposition for a long time to come because the party had completely failed to attract and convince Zambians about what they would be able to deliver.

She said some politicians in the country had adopted politics of the belly philosophy and would therefore continue jumping from one political party to another to survive.

“We can talk about Bob Sichinga who has rejoined the UPND, and he was once Minister of Agriculture during the late President Sata’s time and what is it that he can cheat the people of Zambia about the UPND?

‘‘He left the UPND because he believed it was tribal and now he has gone back to the same political party he branded tribal. Mr Sichinga failed to perform when he was given the opportunity to serve Zambians and has jumped to the UPND thinking that the opposition party is forming government this year,” Mrs Phiri said.

She said those who were under the PF government should be the last people to talk ill about the ruling party because they were given opportunities to serve the people of Zambia but failed.

She said the ruling party was not shaken by statements that the opposition UPND would by May rule the Copperbelt and alleging that PF Members of Parliament would join the UPND.

Mrs Phiri said UPND had been talking about the same things, forgetting that Zambians through the ballot had continued to prove them wrong.

“Is it not the same UPND that in January 2015 presidential elections had the opportunity to campaign when the PF only campaigned for 21 days and won the election? Let them keep on dreaming and talking about it is a sheer waste of time because popularity will be evidenced by the ballot on August 11, 2016,” she said.

  1. Change of government is inevitable this year as people have suffered enough. We will change because PF has demonstrated that they have no capacity to run the affairs of this country. Kuyabebele

    • @ visionary

Govts are never changed by useless bloggers like you who like pluralizing every comment as if you have 1million voter’s cards. Govt is changed through the ballot box by one person putting an X cross on Pf. Yes upnd has always won elections online .

    • Not this time Mumbi Phiri. People are starving, not a day goes by without receiving a SOS yet I warned my friends and family in 2011 not to vote for PF. They have learnt the lesson the hard way and I doubt if they would want to make that mistake again

    • Mumbi Phiri, please shut up and get out of oblivion…. PF beat UPND with 1% of the votes last year, this is not a big gap for you to be opening your smelly mouth anyhow thinking that you will be in government after August.

11/08/16, PF will lose and it will be the end of the party…. one term party.

      Viva HH

    • Bane PF is dead and gone. That is the truth though its bitter to take it especially for me who used to be a die hard PF. What is remaining is only a nutshell.

    • Rationalists see no political path in the opposition hype. None of them is magnetic or in the league of political Grandee Sata to make the realize mass conversion of solid are. In the real world political theater, Change of ruling mandate is not realized on the basis of delusions and absence of alternative. Other than perfecting in theatrics of insulting or defaming the incumbent republican leader HE ECL, and making flawed loud aclaims that “it’s our time to rule” there is nothing done or connecting voters across national constituencies. You don’t win national election by mere hype and 11th hour patches all else left indelible. Get to the basics of enduring national rejection and repent on the vices Zambia have known you to be born of.

    • How objective is that? And what evidence do you have that the UPND is capable of running the affairs of this country? UPND has never mentioned a policy of how to curb the Kwacha depreciation or improve the energy deficit (which is affecting the entire Africa). You cannot enjoy the benefits of infrastructural development and enjoy a stable economy, these are mutually exclusive, but once you stop investing in infrastructure, when are we going to do so? Now is the time. If power is not there, use solar, if interest rates are up, save and deposit instead of borrowing, if the Kwacha depreciates, reduce on your imports (buy local), if mealie-meal is expensive, eat rice. As Chikwanda’s budget said “for a smarter Zambia”.

    • “She said those who were under the PF government should be the last people to talk ill about the ruling party because they were given opportunities to serve the people of Zambia but failed.”
LOOOOL, SMH! Was the objective here to de campaign her own party?
There you have it folks, from the very horse’s mouth – so if PF at heart believe they have failed, why in the world should Zambians give them another mandate?

    • Kjhikiki…Mumbi Phiri…its the other way round…We made a terrible mistake on 20 January 2015 and thought we could eat tribe and gave PF a sympathy mandate…So you should continue fantasizing about being in government after August…Continue dreaming, having run away from darkness PF and ZESCO caused:
So here is my schedeule…..me and my entire family, sisters, cousins and aunties, nephews and uncles will fly back to Zambia 4 days before 11 August 2016, vote in a New government on 11, and fly back on 15 August.. And I am not the only one with the pain you have caused.

    • TRULY, THE UPND HAD A VERY BIG CHANCE IN 2015 BUT LAMENTABLY FAILED TO WIN. I DO NOT THINK THEY CAN WIN WHEN PF HAS BECOME EVEN STRONGER THROUGH DEMONSTRATION THAT DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS CAN BE IMPLEMENTED IN PEOPLES’ LIVES TO ENJOY THEM. PF HAVE DONE A LOT FOR EVEN A LUNATIC TO VOTE FOR ANOTHER PARTY WITH NO PROVEN PROMISES AND PUBLIC OFFICE EXPERIENCE. THE OTHER THING WHICH WILL BURY UPND IS THE NEGA NEGA FORMULA. THEY MUST VERY NAIVE TO THINK THAT OTHER PROVINCES CAN’T USE IT. MAYBE THEY SHOULD DUMP THE ARCHITECT OF TRIBALISM, HH, AND INSTALL A FRESH BUT NEUTRAL PARTY LEADER.

    • Which people? I have not changed and millions others. Do not generalize or fantasize. This is UPND, a lot of noise, hooliganistic, dreaming, regional and the best loser in elections of all times. Still waters run deep. PF is strangely calm, do you ask yourselves why? Politics my friend, you need to know when and how to throw the cards when at the table!!!

    • WHICH PEOPLE BY THE WAY? I HAVEN’T CHANGED MY MIND. SO, HAVEN’T MY RELATIVES BACK HOME WHO TELL ME THAT THERE’S ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO CHANGE THE GOVERNMENT AS “WE GREATLY, APPRECIATE WHAT PF HAVE AND WE ARE AWARE OF THE WORLD ECONOMIC DOWNTURN WHICH IS ALSO AFFECTING ZAMBIA”, THEY ALWAYS REMIND ME. MUMBI PHIRI IS RIGHT.

    • I have together with thousands of my people I influenced to vote PF in 2011. Well, if people want to avoid the truth the ostrich way, it’s their cjoice

  2. Come 11. 8.16. Vote PF out. They have failed to run the country. Mumbi phiri, tell your boy friend that ” We do not need his services”.

  3. Come, 11. 8.16. Vote PF out. They have failed to run the country. Mumbi phiri, tell your boy friend that ” We do not need his services”.

  4. This election isn’t about whether UPND wins. Its about rejecting PF & more so your leader Kadansa for failing to properly administer the affairs of the country.
The question you should ask yourself Mumbi is what happened to the love affair you had with majority Zambians in 2011. I’m sure you remember the victory dance across the country when MCS was announced winner.
Compare that with the subdued murmurs of 2015 then you will probably understand what’s gone wrong with PF.

  5. Which people have changed their minds you fool, its only yourself. Take note that PF is still intact with Edger Lungu as the head. Keep on dreaming until 11 August 2016 and even after August.

  6. (HH) and his Under-5 Phucks for No Development (UPND) will finally realize that this is the end of the road for them. Never again shall we be opposed by such a weak opposition leader with no experience. Keep on with your fantasy of reaching State house. Flight 2016 has already crashed.

  7. Nora walasa boi bakembo aba they thinnk we are happy wit their foolish governance style. tuzamiona ba ***** pa 11.8x.16..umwebe kembo munobe menomeno

  8. I think it is too late for PF to convince the Zambian people, the opposition bench is waiting for them. Look PF won by just 1% ( 48% compared to 47% UPND) in January 2015 , it is just simple mathematics to calculate the likely % in August 2016, see below:
    (1) Scraping of meal allowance for students at UNZA & CBU, do you think the families of all those students will vote for PF?
    (2) What about miners who lost their jobs in CB can they vote for PF?
    (3) Here in Lusaka, have you ever experienced the load shedding we are experiencing now? not even 1995 when it only rained for one month
    (4) High cost of living
    (5) What about foreign qualifications can you manage to pay in dollars with now the depreciated Kwacha by PF , Ok sorry PF call it is global.
The 1% is long gone , I think PF will…

    • Do not be deluded, be objective and concise. UPND campaigned for 90 days whereas PF campaigned for 14 days. The UPND has not done enough to reach the rural areas. People assume that the Copperbelt is lost for PF, this is very careless. There are only 14,000 miners and to project it, there are less than 40,000 people who benefit directly from these 14,000 miners. Not to mention, among these minors are mostly Bemba or Bemba affiliated individuals who will not vote for UPND regardless. People are reconciling themselves to the possibility of life with Edgar Lungu after 2016. That said, I wish the UPND luck in this year’s elections.

  9. there is no other way to do this but to remove PF from power. we have suffered enough. only these same Mumbi Phiris are eating our monies.

  10. up n down supporters stop deceiving yourselves which people have made up their minds? just say i have made up of my mind & don’t talk on behalf of people. hh has been winning elections on the media for the past fifteen years now. & the other thing that you should no is that ichilema is not GOD who can change yuor lives to think that is the only one who can change things as you portray him. that man can bring misery in this country spiritually & physically as is known to be the shetanist just like the self-confessed father mazoka

  11. Who is this woman trying to please? May be her masters who she continues opening her legs for in order to get favors from them. Madam phiri stop preaching about the UPND and preach the message people want to hear. Otherwise you should share that message with one Edgar Lungu in private while he is whipping you with his big “stick”.

  12. “Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious S t u p i d i t y”. A quote by Martin Luther King, Jr.
Looks like Mumbi and her PF are in denial.

  13. The PF has played the election gimmicks and they seem to be paying off. Firstly, the Western World trick of calling for snap elections. August is very early, this benefits the ruling party. The UPND has gained in Kasama Central but the PF has got an entire province in Eastern Province. The UPND has not accounted for how it will cope with the fact that Southern Province votes might be eclipsed by Eastern Province votes. Also, UPND has failed to get into rural Northern Province and Luapula. PF has cemented its presence in Central Province and will likely carry urban votes there. Lusaka will be hotly contested but the fact that the PF is fielding more credible candidates at parliamentary level compared to UPND, PF will carry both Lusaka and Copperbelt. Do not be mislead, Inonge Wina will be…

    • @LORD VOLDEMORT (THE DARK LORD)

KK also believed the advisers who told him everything was OK, but what KK didn’t know was that things were OK only in eastern province. This point was proved when only eastern province voted for KK while rest of the provinces rejected him with incredible contempt and he is now in political oblivion. If you pay a little attention you will be shocked to discover people have decided to bury PF on 11/8/16. This is fact. Remember eastern province is like a lagging indicator of events. They always vote massively for a candidate who stands no chance. Why it’s like so, I am as clueless about it as Lungu is clueless about anything except beer.

    • @Wantanshi- Look, I respect your opinion because you usually base your arguments on facts and they are pretty solid. The dynamics have changed from when KK was in power, a party that had never gone into an election for 25 years was bound to lose no matter what. And I really find it derogatory for you to state that ECL only knows about beer, if he did, this country would have fallen apart. Zambia has not fallen apart, otherwise we would all be immigrants.

  14. If they are so unpopular, why bother talking about them? Why not concentrate on your programs and just ignore the “unpopular” UPND???

  15. Just the number of people in her midst, is evident that majority of pf members have defected to Upnd & DF. Pf should forget about winning the 8/11 election. Pf won the Jan ’15 crookedly. . They continued voting for seven days in order to manipulate the results. This time there will be no changing of rules in the middle of the game.

    • THAT TELLS ME HOW IGNORANT YOU ARE WHEN YOU MENTIONED THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE. SAMFYA IS A VERY SMALL (BUT, ITS BEAUTY IS UN COMPARABLE TO ANY BEAUTIFUL PLACE YOU KNOW- NOT EVEN HAWAI), TOURIST POTENTIAL TOWN. EVEN SMAALLER IN TERMS OF POPULATION ARE ITS ADJACENT VILLAGES. NOW, JEAN WAS IN A SMALL VILLAGE AND NOT EVEN SAMFYA ITSELF. IN SHORT THAT WAS A VERY BIG CROWD OF PEOPLE IN THAT VILLAGE. MEANING EVERYONE TURNED UP.

  16. When will Mumbi Phiri ever talk about issues of substance such as how the PF will increase GDP growth above 10%, bring down inflation from 22.9% to 5%, stop the excessive corruption which has engulfed the entire PF leadership, etc?

  17. Comment: There more recycled politicians in UPND than PF and that’s what am against. Time to phase them out little by little. They are promoting politics of the belly. With this kind of people, we can’t move forward.

    • @Be real. That’s exactly the point. any change now will not make any sense. These people being welcomed by upnd are more hungrier of stealing and corruption because its in them and they have not been doing it.

  18. Comment: It is not fantasy but reality is that the UPND has grown tremendously in once pf stronghold. Because of this, Pf has become restless and violent . Because of their diminishing popularity, pf has continued to harass their opponents whenever and wherever they hold meetings.

  19. Useless woman not worth a village chicken for a dowry. I have always thought women should fight for their offsprings’ wellbeing not how they enjoy themselves wherever they are. PF has subtracted so much from our economic and social gains since Levy’s presidency and there is nothing for them to be voted back come 11082016. She is such an empty flash disk that even recycling her is impossible. Let her be thrown in the dustbin and forgotten for good.

  20. If Zambians want to cry, they’ll vote UPND and they can lick their Panga wounds when those Tonga Tribalist takeover and spread violence and fear in Zambia while HH and his Western Friends disenfranchise Zambians and create wealth for themselves. That IS TRUTH, written here.

    • TRUE TO THE POINT. ZAMBIANS HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED CIVIL STRIFE AND A SMALL GROUP OF PEOPLE ARE CONFUSING THEM IN ORDER TO EXPERIENCE WHAT CONGOLESE ARE EXPERIENCING NOW. HH WOULD BE THE WORST DICTATOR IF PEOPLE MAKE THAT GRAVE MISTAKE OF GIVING HIM ABSOLUTE POWER. PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA DON’T SAY YOU WERE NOT WARNED.

    • These are PF stooges in Zambian forigne missions in fear of losing the good living with looted funds they are enjoying under PF. They are the minority, the majority of Zambians are suffering due to PF corruption and missmangment.

      Come August,
      Zambia shall be free.

  21. UPND have come to the party in distorted form they where once a factor and a force to reckon with until they started picking people who under MMD and PF did damage to their own country they plundered and stole and raped our country. So after eating they saw UPND looked beautiful they ‘sang’ a tune to its weak Leader the outgoing HH and he fell for the tune he wants to allow these mobsters to eat again he even elevated some of them to Vice President yet he tells us he is an economic manager…well here is truth you are going into retirement in 2016 GN will be elected President at the next convention you will be forgotten Garry will lead the party to plot 1 in 2021 not you…..you don’t know the mood on the ground we do….bakalye nafuti abena shi nonon?

  22. @Patriotic abroad & Kudo. It’s sad that u dnt think using your head but your ass. Just Bcoz u r being feed by PF using our tax payers money, makes you blind that you 4grt million zambian out there. You’re both disgrace to humanity. I wonder if you were really conceived from blessed marriages.” Kungafipe, ulendo ulipo” . Viva UPND

  23. Some of these Patriots Abroad are really Patriotic Fools and deserve to be counted out of progressive Zambians ready to dictate the future of our country. Very decayed and devoid of any logic and foresight.

  24. Zambians are suffering under PF and it is not fantasy, it is real. Zambians have all the right to look for an alternative. PF has failed. Period!

  25. @socrates:PLEASE DONT SAY ZAMBIANS ARE SUFFERING,SIMPLY SAY BANTUSTANS ARE SUFFERING AND SO THEY WANT CHANGE!!am a Zambian and live in Lusaka and am not suffering!!I DO MY OWN THINGS AND MY LIFE IS VERY OK UNDER PF!!NO MATTER WHAT,I WILL VOTE FOR PF ON 11/08/2016 AS I NEED DEVELOPMENT ACROSS ZAMBIA UNDER PF TO CONTINUE!!so its u who vote for tribe who want change!!thank God such people like u are very few in Zambia and you cannot effect the change of Govnt!!YOUR TRIBAL HH SHALL CONTINUE WINNING ONLINE,BUT VIA BALLOT BOX,EDGAR LUNGU WILL WIN!!

  26. Upnd cadres are filled with inferiority complex! Please use your names not shrouding under Bemba names. The problem with upnd is that it’s supported by Bantustans hence the hiding of names- and you still think you can win national elections with a lop sided support Dream on bane!

  27. Upnd thrives on fantasy and false opinion polls on Muvi tv, online media and now the Past newspaper! Come down on earth and look reality in the face, you ain’t popupular at all! @ CB and Kasama under upnd, really??? Ichiloto ukuwama ba up N down! Ifintu NiLungu!

  28. ba upnd u will never stop dreaming and the earlier u do this the beta as we are stil going ahead with PF, start preparing for 2021 by first going for a convertion and remove yo so called god hh….thats the simple mathematics u need to calculate and not talk about unza and cbu bcoz this issue is long overdue and we cannot fail to implement it jst bcoz its an election year and u think u can get popularity NOOOOOOOOOO…critical decisions have to be made at critical times…this is for the benefit of all zambians and if ur not zambian then go to Syria

  29. wat will make u loose again ba upnd is that ur looking at everything from an elections lense……we need to do wat is gud for the people………….not jst bcoz its an election year aweeeeee twakana its not about pleasing the electorates but its about doing wat we OUGHT to do in Jesus Name…….#WE LOVE ECL

  30. It’s up to the Zambian people to choose for themselve the next five years whether they want to continue living with lies and excuses of Ni GLOBAL,Loadshedding KARIBA DAM there Not enough water. While Zambezi river is ever flowing with water to the Dam.Expensive mealie meal, high inflation rate.Scrapped meal allowances at universities while Marketeers are getting hand out loans so that they vote for PF.
The fact is the visionary Pf died with Ba Sata. The current one has been given the opportunity to serve the people of Zambia but has failed.

  31. I used to doubt but now am very sure UPND will carry the day. PF enjoys the monopoly on ZNBC radio and TV and monitoring of some projects. Good evidence of project with most of them shoddily done and incomplete.
The reality will be seen when parliament dissolves. Use of own resources will be at play with only our beloved president and vice as functionaries. PS will done to the tune of all.

The country has never seen such suffering before in its history.

hard luck and best regards to the winning team

  32. This Senior Citizen should for once sneer himself with ashes of shame. I have a string of blogs on Lusaka Times where he used the same borrowed by vague flowery language to denounce PF; claiming in very strong terms MMD would win the 2011 elections. His prophetic voice came to naughty. The same character has shifted camp like many Of those if the defunct party to ululate for PF. Senior Citizen has no prophetic voice; if he is on your side, begin to purchase loads of handkerchiefs or better still, buckets that can accumulate huge liters of tears.
