Ithezi Thezi member of parliament who is also Deputy Minister of Agriculture Greyford Monde walks on the Bank of Ithezi thezi Dam with Zesco spokesperson Henry Kapata in Ithezi Thezi.
ZESCO Public Relations Officer Henry Kapata says load shedding in Zambia has started normalizing to the appeasement of the Zambian people.

Mr Kapata said his utility firm is working round the clock to ensure that Zambians have stable power supply by May this year.

He said in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services(ZANIS) in Lusaka today that ZESCO is also happy with the water levels which has accumulated in Zambezi and Kafue rivers.

Mr Kapata stated that at Itenzhi Tezhi, Kafue, and Zambezi rivers will in the next few months facilitate good operations of the utility company to the satisfaction of the Zambian people across the country.

He explained that at Kafue gorge , ZESCO intends to increase the company 120 megawatts indicating that the load shedding will definitely reduce in the next few months as witnessed by many citizens.

  1. Kapata keep quiet you are just annoying pipo more.
#Ecl please there is group in zesco working with former bosses being used by upnd to decampaign pf.
They will give you all sorts technical challenges to make you continue believing them
Please fire some, demote some, promote others this issue is real but exagerated.
Start with kapata he is upnd controlling the zesco cartail.

    • I agree. While it is true that it is difficult to fill the Kariba Dam in one rainy season because it is 180 billion cubic metres the ITT Dam is only 6 billion cubic metres but the impression given by ZESCO officials is that it is equally difficult fo fill up the much smaller reservoir. LT I would have preferred to see the reservoir than the dam wall. What are you hiding?

    • @jkalusa, how possible can that be when about 70% of ZESCO Employees, including MD Mundende are PF members? Please leave UPND out of ignorance and non-performance.

    • It is not UPND’s fault that PF and their Zesco cadres do not have the brains and skills to manage the company properly. How can you run a country for 5 years and still not be in charge of what is going on? Sheer stoopidity!

    • @ Buck Teeth Lungu

Bro, you are forgetting that PF official “vuvuzela”, certain Frank B.S. Bwalya, was a Chairperson of the Board of ZESCO!!!
Do you know any other person who can be more unsuitable for that position than such theological, moral and human failure than him?

  2. Yes,it has really reduced, hope by May,2016 load shedding will be drastically reduced to shame the followers of evil hh!!THIS IS THE KIND OF NEWS WHICH UPND HATE.ALL THEY PRAY FOR EVERYDAY IS BAD THING TO BE AFFECTING US ZAMBIANS!!BUT WHICH LIVING GOD CAN ANSWER THEIR EVIL PRAYERS?INDEED LOAD SHEDDING HAS REDUCED IN OUR HOMES AND WE ARE NOW ENJOYING SOCCER ON DSTV!!BRAVO TO ZESCO AND CONTINUE WORKING HARD TO SHAME THE DEVILS IN OPPOSITION!!

  3. Zesco!! It is senseless of you to give people false hope. Tell me why you punish us with boring Saturdays with your LOAD SHEDDING. Weekends are for people to unwind. A lot of commercial and industrial places are off so don’t give us the OVERLOAD rubbish!

  4. This is good news but if they are pipo who plan loadshedding to continue for their political campaigns against pf please let them be fired.

    • The whole Zesco management should be fired. I have not seen any difference despite floods on the Barotse Plains. Powercuts are still for 8 hours every day and also at the first sign of a thunderstorm, power goes. What useless goats we have running govt!

  5. ba swine, dont tease people. the loadsheding has increased in our area in meanwood and you are saying it has started reducing?

  6. What is the meaning of Kapata’s statement? Normalizing of the load shedding meaning it is now timetable is normal and accented or we won’t have load shedding? Someone explain to me. Kapata was better off with his last position.

  7. Load shedding has increased. Yesterday instead of power coming on at 14hrs, after 8 hours of no power, it came on at 17hrs and off again at 24 hrs. Is this improving? I am sure there’s are areas which don’t get load shedding. Kabwata rarely, Roma and Kabulonga are terrible! I wonder why!

  8. …really what does he mean by ‘load shedding’ normalising..??…a wrong can never be a right…load shedding cannot normalise….supply power 24/7 period…that is what is normal…reduced is not good enough…

    • The whole Zesco management team does not have grade 12 certificates. That’s why they cannot manage the company. How do we have powercuts over Easter holidays and every weekend when clearly companies (the heavy electricity users) are closed? There’s no cure against stoopidity!

  9. Zimbabwe uses Kariba also but loadshedding is not more than 2 hrs. You guys are just exporting power and exploiting yo own citizens who have given you those jobs…….INJUSTICE!

    • The example of Zimbabwe is wrong because in Zambia’s case the mines use over 50% of its electricity. And in fact when Zambia installed capacity was about 1600MW we had excess electricity because the mines production had reduced considerably under nationalization.

  10. Well, loading is real.Zesco is not fair at all.In some areas such kamwala south, lilanda, meanwood iwe tefitu. It seems there are cadres from UPND who are loadshedding compounds more than 8 hours.I was also wondering how come some areas are not loadsheded but only compounds and places like kamwala south n parts of lilanda estate. Please ba president watch zesco. These chaps are decamping PF.We need to see loadsheding reduce to 2-4 hours daily. These are simple issues making PF look bad but we can work on this as soon as possible. We can allow dictotor HH with his tribe to mistreat us.We see it in companies being headed by these chaps.

    • My Cousin who lives in Kabwe informs me that they are hardly affected by load shedding. And yet Lusaka with the largest number of voters in the country experiences 14 hours of load shedding in parts of Kabulonga and Kalingalinga on some days where I stay and possibly in other areas of Lusaka too. Although ideally load shedding should be equitably distributed throughout the country the PF is better off not to antagonize the area with the largest number of voters in the country.

  11. Ba LT with a year of LOAD-SHEDDING you are still not able to spell the word. Load shedding is the practice of stopping the supply of electricity for a period of time because the demand is greater than the supply. There is no such word as LOAD-SHADING.

  12. It is now confirmed that UPND is so powerful that it controls all the activities in Zambia going by comments by PF government and cadres alike. UNDP is blamed for nearly all short comings in the PF misrule be it meal mill shortage, free fall of kwacha, and now loading shedding

    • These are but some of the 25 evil plans being utilised by the PF against the UPND, my Sister. This is called a blame game. Is Lupando the Miller of Kasama who was pardoned by the President yesterday for exporting mealie meal to a neighboring country a UPND Member and yet the UPND is being blamed, for example.

  13. Morning our dear president, the leader who respects pipo, we have discovered that in some public companies e.g zesco, hospitals and many more, there are bosses who are doing things deliberately to frustrate govt work, please try to investigate these issues bcoz its just too much, they are decampaining PF. What we are saying its true.

  14. The sinking boat is actually floating, I understand that even overweight GBM and HH hiked a ride on the same boat and their combined weight could not sink it. The boat was being tested for stability as the two have asked to escort Edgar Lungu on the boat ride to the swearing in ceremony on 13th August.
Can I have your insults now please?

  15. this Kapata also, is this the best PRO material that Zesco can find on the market? Nothing political in my post but surely Zesco can do better?

    • @ Wise head

For a change, you are absolutely right. Nothing political, nothing.
“… surely Zesco can do better?…”
Just imagine how Zambia can do better if Zambians decide to turn theirs back to institutionalized incompetence which is responsible for the appointments at ZESCO?

  16. Comment: In bars in Lusaka they just playing Tonga songs. You wait until people vote coz this country is neither Tonga or Bemba land.

  17. other poorly written trash thrown at the reader to sort out the rubbish and try and make some sense out of it. Firstly it’s loadshedding(one word ) not load shading.
Loadshedding has started to normalise does this mean loadshedding is now normal? Or perhaps regularised? Then “to the appeasement of the Zambian people.” What the hell is that?
“ZESCO is also happy with the water levels which has accumulated in Zambezi and Kafue rivers.”
If ZESCO is also happy who else is? Dorah?
The levels which has? That Should be HAVE. But bane do levels accumulate? How? Perhaps If you have for argument’s sake 89 low levels they accumulate ka?
The reporter gives us bloomer after bloomer

  18. Here goes:
Mr Kapata stated that at Itenzhi Tezhi, Kafue, and Zambezi rivers will in the next few months facilitate good operations of the utility company to the satisfaction of the Zambian people across the country.
Only lusaka times knows what that means. Even this next one needs a psychologist to figure out:
He explained that at Kafue gorge , ZESCO intends to increase the company 120 megawatts indicating that the load shedding will definitely reduce in the next few months as witnessed by many citizens

  19. Load Shedding can’t be normalise because it’s an abnormality in itself. It’s the rate of doing it that can be normalised. G12 certificate needed.

  20. This is too much load shedding for 10hrs without power I guess this people are doing this for fun, on the other part of kalingalinga their is no loading shedding but on the side its like their is a home of load shedding
