Government spent more than one million United States dollars last year to send citizens abroad for specialized treatment.

Speaking during the official opening of Forest Park specialized hospital in Lusaka this morning, Health Minister Joseph Kasonde says more than 200 patients have been on the waiting list for specialized treatment outside the country.

Dr. Kasonde however, notes that already, some of those on the waiting list have been receiving the equivalent treatment within the country provided by both the private and the public sector.

he has commended Forest Park Specialized Hospital management for establishing a specialized hospital, and has since urged management to ensure their services are affordable.

Dr Kasonde has further urged the private sector to continue complimenting government’s efforts in meeting modern, efficient and effective health care delivery for the Zambian citizens.

And speaking earlier, Egyptian Ambassador to Zambia Ragai Nasr says the idea of setting up the health facility is not only meant to compliment the Zambian government’s efforts to provide health care services, but is also an opportunity for foreign direct investment which is required for the economic growth of Zambia.

And Forest Park Hospital Medical Director, Dr. Mohammed Al-noseery says the hospital will endeavor to provide quality health services to the people.

  1. If we put just One million US dollars into UTH wouldn’t we have a state of the art hospital?

    • We would. But they think they are the chosen ones. That is why we the unchosen ones are going to make sure they also become unchosen come August. Vote for anybody but them! This news makes me angry, urgh!

  2. For PF carders!

We must put an end to this abuse of our hard earned taxpayers money for the benefit of the few corrupt individuals!

No person holding political office should qualify for this! Then these bloodsucking wine’s will invest in UTH!
