Kasama residents have praised government for normalising the mealie-meal situation in the area.

One of the residents, Esther Kabwe said the shortage of the commodity had resulted in people queuing for mealie meal as early as 05:00 hours.

She however said the situation has returned to normal as sufficient mealie meal stocks were available on the local market.

Another resident, Steven Mushili commended government for taking swift measures of addressing the artificial shortage of mealie-meal in Kasama district.

He said government’s intervention has served residents from being exploited by some traders who were selling the commodity at exorbitant prices.

Meanwhile, Kasama District commissioner Kelly Kashiwa has observed that the mealie-meal shortage has completely been sorted out as the commodity has been flooded in all the local markets.

Mr. Kashiwa added that government has started supplying subsidized maize to all the local millers, a situation which has seen the mass production of mealie meal in the area.

He urged the local millers to sustain the production of mealie meal in order to avoid Kasama experiencing another shortage of the essential commodity.

    • able leadership my foot, the guy meno meno Lungu knows nothing about leadership and worst still governance for that matter.

He is as clueless as they come

    • Some guys are born that way, always putting themselves in a mess then trying to get out of it, usually it’s metal problem i have just forgotten it’s scientific name, kasama residents you don’t need to cheer for that, it a dangerous metal problem.

    • @1.3 THE SHORTAGE WAS VERY ARTIFICIAL. SOME UPND LEADERS ARE PAYING SMUGGLERS TO SMUGGLE THE STAPLE FOOD ACROSS THE BORDERS OF MALAWI, ZIMBABWE AND DR CONGO SO THAT AN ARTIFICIAL SHORTAGE IS CREATED IN ORDER TO DISCREDIT THE GOVERNMENT. THE RACKET WAS RECENTLY BY SETTING UP A COMBINED FORCE OF POLICE AND ZNS. THE UN CORRUPT ZNS WAS COMBINED WITH THE CORRUPT POLICE TO PRE-EMPT THE CORRUPT POLICE WHO WOULD HAVE JUST RECEIVED BRIBES AND THERE GOES MAIZE MEAL INTO NEIGHBOURS. MIND YOU THIS STRATEGY HAS BEEN USED IN THE PAST AND IT HAS BEEN WORKING.

    • @ Peter

If you have evidence, report them to Police. Otherwise shut the f*cking trap and stop character assassination.
In so far, only one case of illegal export has been reliably reported and the person involved is a Deputy Minister and PF member.

    • Chils, if you have nothing to say just keep your venus fly trap shut. You will do yourself a lot of good. Meanwhile start to lick your wounds in advance. The man you hate so much, ECL will continue to be your President beyond August my dear fella!

  1. Stupidity of the highest order. Ba Zambia please wake up. Kanshi mwebo mukabuka lilali? To begin with there shouldn’t be maize or mealie meal shortage in the country. It’s like someone dips you in matipa ba Zambia, he leaves you out there, mwaungwaungwa, mwalya tobomutwe, then he comes back and dips in water to remove your matipa elo mwatemwa. Please wake you morons. Why do you praise PF when they play with your minds?

  2. Chi Kudos very retrogressive minds. I the chap is not born of a human. Check his DNA. Very retrogressive thinking even when our people suffering. Kanshi if bantu fimbi bafipanga shani. That’s why when the HH government comes in, we will definitely behind bars such minds. These are the people who are getting paid by PF for propaganda when other zambians are having a difficulties. Fikapwa if you think chi Kudos PF will live forever.

  3. Very true Lungu is winning a land slide victory. HH and UPND have already won on social media as usual, now even the UK people are voting for HH. Kikikikiki.

  4. Now this is not the kind of news that HH wants to hear. He wants to hear that people are queuing up from 05:00hrs. That’s bad news for the Kasama residents but for HH that would be the good news, he sees votes from the suffering of people. Let’s wait to hear what he says tomorrow. While at it Honourable HH please give us your comments on the Post. A statement from you as usual would even be better.

  5. HH doesn’t need to say anything he is not obliged. HH siwanyoko that you expect to comment on PF failure. Kabiye ukapipe.

  6. zambians for sure! this is not simply docility,,, because docility is just an extreme physiological, meaning normal state. this is pathological!! a disease state. a normal citizenry would be outraged and call for heads to roll for being subjected to having to queue at 5 am and having to miss a meal when there was no shortage of grain in the first place. being forced to starve in the midst of plenty? but instead you get people PRAISING government for all this inconvenience. come on ZAMBIANS! wake up for once,,,, this is laziness, negligence, misconduct on your part!!! if you cannot make your government accountable who do you think will do that for you?
