Rampant Nkana welcomes Warriors

Share

FAZ Super Division leaders Nkana look set to maintain their stay at the top of the table when they host promoted Kabwe Warriors at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe one of the midweek games.

Coach Aggrey Chiyangi’s Nkana top the table with 9 points, three better than second placed Zanaco after three matches played so far in the new season.

Nkana will be hoping to take advantage of Zanaco’s absence to extend their lead at the summit with a win over Kabwe Warriors at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

The 12-time champions are facing a Warriors side that has recorded two straight stalemates in their first two fixtures.

“We have to keep the focus. We don’t have to underrate any team going forward,” Chiyangi said.

Elsewhere, the Mufulira derby returns after a one year absence with Mufulira Wanderers hosting their sworn rivals Mufulira Blackpool at Shinde Stadium.

Mighty and Blackpool last met in 2014 when both teams were in Division.

The two teams enter Shinde Stadium with contrasting fortunes that have seen unbeaten Mighty conjure a win and two draws.

Blackpool have lost their first two fixtures with the latest being 3-1 thumping they suffered at the hands of Nkana at the weekend.

“You know these boys are friends. They play together, so when they meet in the derby they want to show who is better. It will be a very tough game I know. They haven’t won a game but that doesn’t mean they are a bad side,” Mighty coach Manfred Chabinga said.

Power Dynamos’ midweek game against Zanaco has been postponed as their opponents are preparing for a CAF Confederation Cup tie against Stade Gabesien to be played on Saturday in Lusaka.

Zesco United’s game against Red Arrows has also been postponed as the local champions are in Mali for their CAF Champions League clash.
