Shepolopolo face Zimbabwe in a must win match

Share

Shepolopolo on Sunday must convincingly beat Zimbabwe at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka to qualify for the 2016 African Women Championship to be hosted by Cameroon.

Zambia are facing the Mighty Warriors with the hope of overturning the 1-0 loss they suffered in Harare in the first leg tie of the final qualifying round played last Wednesday.

Zambia is seeking a second appearance at the biggest women’s football championship in Africa.

“We must score at least two goals and not allow them to score if we are to qualify. We still have chance to make it to the AWC in Cameroon,” Zambia coach Albert Kachinga said.

“We definitely have to put everything into it. What matters now is to qualify, we can’t let Zimbabwe go to the Africa Cup and then Olympics, we shall not allow them to do that,” said Kachinga.

Zimbabwe also eliminated Zambia from the running to qualify to the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

Meanwhile Mighty Warriors Coach Shadreck Mlauzi said Sunday’s return game would be crucial especially that the Shepolopolo would be playing in front of home fans.

“We are not going to sit back, we are still going to search for a goal and hopefully consolidate what we have done here,” said Mlauzi.

Zambia reached the final qualifying round after eliminating Namibia 5-3 over two legs, while Zimbabwe saw-off Tanzania’s Twiga Stars with a 3-2 aggregate win.
