Zesco United coach George Lwandamina says there is not time to celebrate because they are not over the finish-line yet and must still work hard to reach the 2016 CAF Champions League group stage.
Zesco came from 1-0 to beat Stade Malien 3-1 on Saturday night in Bamako to raise their prospects of qualifying for the group stage for the first time since 2009.
“If we are complacent, we will be eliminated,” Lwandamina said.
” Players should be wary of the opponents positives attributes.
“They (Stade Malien) are a formidable side. We have to do our homework right if we are to go through to the next round.”
Zesco will need a draw against the Malian’s on April 19 at Levy Mwanawasa stadium to book their passage to the league round of the competition.
The loser will be relegated to the last 16 of the Confederation Cup where they will face victor from this months second round in the battle for a place in the second continental competitions group stage.
Well done ZESCO United. Good message from the Coach as a leader.
Correction – Zesco can afford to lose one nil and still qualify. They’re 3-1 up already. Having said that, we can’t afford to be complacent.
