PF Deputy Spokesperson Frank Bwalya has called on members of ruling Party across the country to pray for Mulenga Sata who has ditched the party to join UPND.
Mr Bwalya said it is not long since Michael Sata, the father to Mr Sata who formed the ruling PF died hence the members should continue walking with Mr Sata despite renouncing his membership to the party.
“We want to urge all our members to pray for Mr Sata it is not a long time when he lost his father so we want to continue walking with him although now he belongs to a different political party but we can continue to show him love and understanding as well as mutual respect,” he said
He refuted claims that President Lungu was not embracing old members of the PF.
“We want to make it very clear that President Lungu has been very embracing and accommodating and we also want to make it very clear again that the people who leaving to join other political parties including UPND are not doing so because President Lungu has refused to accommodate them.
People are free to go where they think they may realise their aspirations and not in another so based on this we respect the decision of Mr Mulenga Sata and we wish him well,” he said.
He also said his party was worried that Mr Sata may not be happy in the party he has joined because he has left a family which loved and respected him in the PF.
“Many of us in PF are worried that he may be not happy were he has gone, he may not even fulfill his aspirations for a simple reason that in PF he had a family that had worked with him, that had worked with the father and his family for many years.
“If he has made this decision out of frustration it’s unfortunate, we all have frustrations in our lives and we all respond differently to frustration,” he said.
And Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili has said that the resignation of Lusaka Province Minister Mulenga Sata has no impact on government.
Dr Kambwili said that government is bigger than Mr Sata and any other individual has challenged Mr Sata to disclose his real reasons for resigning because what he has claimed is not true. He said there are reasons for the resignation which Mr Sata should honestly state.
Dr Kambwili who is also Information and Broadcasting Services Minister said that the late President Michael Sata should be turning in his grave that his son has betrayed the party he fought for.
He wondered why Mulenga Sata is accusing government of neglecting the people’s because the PF is still implementing the manifesto which President Sata left.
Dr Kambwili said Mr Sata should have used internal channels to address his grievances other than defecting which he described as an act of cowardice.
Dr Kambwili said Mulenga Sata was never an active member of the PF. He said Mr Sata only joined the PF after it formed government and was later appointed Deputy Minister by President Edgar Lungu.
Dr Kambwili said Mr Sata should have shown appreciation to President Lungu other than raising unsubstantiated claims.
And PF Secretary General Davies Chama says the resignation of Mulenga Sata from the PF has not impact on the ruling party. Mr. Chama says the real PF members remain resolute and steadfast in supporting President Edgar Lungu.
He said disgruntled members will leave party at their own time. Mr. Chama said this is because individuals have the freedom of association and assembly.

Mulenga is one smart guy among the smart people of the Zambian Enterprise … this is a huge blow no matter what kind of spin anyone in the PF wants to put on it. The kid is a well trained engineer with such a brilliant mind.
ECL’s mistake was he announced too early about a future running mate, that made the alliance with MMD (though I have never been fond of them) hard to actualize. Now, unless he had Dr. Kaseba as that future running mate, he has just about lost the entire MCS clan.
Believe it or not it is hard to win this election without half the MCS Clan behind you. You can lose some and win some but you can afford to lose them all. This is a game changer … I still put my money on ECL, though! May the best team win!!!

Sata is only an individual. We support PF not because of individuals but what it stands for. PF is not a Sata kingdom. If this what He and his Muma wanted, they lost it. The moment MCS died, it was inevitable that change had to come in PF. there are different leadrership style and preferences.
Sata is frustrated because he has not been adopted as MP. Only one person per constituency per party may stand. You may celebrate these defections, but PF is working extremely hard on the ground and is winning. You are restricted to that hotel. ECL is all the country. He is winning no doubt. GBM is in Kasama. Northern province is not Kasama. Luapula is not for GBM. Even in Kasama, PF is still strong. The key question to ask is what influence do Mulenga Sata and Mama Kaseba (potential defector) have on voters in Eastern Province or Western Province? If that question can’t be answered then the verdict of this election in 100 days’ time will be the most painful in the history of UPND party. In 1993 there was an insurrection in MMD when Arthur Wina, Humphrey Mulemba, Emmanuel Kasonde, Akashabatwa, Mbita Chitala, Daniel Lisulo thought they could undermine President Chiluba. They were expelled and Chiluba won 1996 election fair and square. Mulenga Sata should stop overrating himself.

The fact that Late Michael Sata started PF was in no way a path for his children to fall heir to the parties presidency. If Mulenga Sata is a true PF member, he should have fought his way to the presidency using the very strategy his father espoused. In the end, a party like UPND which began with principles is now diluted with rotten people.

Mulenga Sata is not the first son of the former presidents to jump parties, we have Andrew Banda who joined hands with HH at the end PF and ELC got the day.
I would like to comment as an independent voter not yet decided on whom to vote for yet. However, what Mulenga has done is a disservice to UPND. This will be perceived as an act of betrayal by the son to MCS by the “common’ voters who still hold the late Sata in high esteem. It is a well known fact that UPND celebrated the passing away of MCS which they perceived as a chance for HH to rule. Just my opinion though.

I think you are wrong. RB has a huge following in some MMD strongholds. He is a neccessary card. Nevers too has a good number of followers.
