Power hold Nkana in Kitwe derby

Share

Nkana fought back from a goal down to draw 1-1 against Power Dynamos in Saturday’s key low Kitwe derby at Nkana Stadium in Wusakile.

Winger Kennedy Mudenda scored for Power with creative midfielder Jacob Ngulube equalising for Nkana.

Power took a 1-0 lead into the half time break after Mudenda had pounced on loose ball before unleashing a powerful shot that penetrated through the Nkana back-line five minutes earlier.

Ngulube levelled on 62 minutes when he turned in a Shadrick Musonda cross from the left wing.

However, Nkana were unlucky to have been denied a wining goal by the cross bar after 74 minutes.

Power were the first ones to create a serious scoring opportunity that saw strike Patson Daka’s 12 minute goal bound shot blocked by Joseph Musonda from the box.

This draw pushes Nkana to 20 points from 8 games played.

  2. Nkana is not consistent and can’t win the league. Zanaco and Zesco look more likely. Power also lacks goals and killer instinct. Nkana must improve. Just look at how GBFC exposed them! I support Nkana but many times we win coz of help from referees especially at our home ground. Supporters also influence refereeing decisions. I am afraid zambian refs must improve if they want to be recognized at big international tournaments such as World Cup, Africa cup etc. It is sad to see refs disadvantage small teams like Lumwana Radiants, Lusaka Dynamos, Mufulira Blackpool etc at the expense of big teams with big budgets. No wonder our Zambia national team is also static and inconsistent. The new FAZ must discipline referees. It is so painful to see refs being so against Lusaka Dynamos in many…

  3. Elite LD has really suffered so many poor decisions from refs eg dubious red cards, fake penalties against them and harsh treatment from match officials. The team is young and does not play rough football but it is almost always at the receiving end of poor decisions from refs. The officials at LD must also get serious; it is time they lodged an official complaint to FAZ. Do they want to wait until they are relegated or what? Every neutral soccer fan who is fair minded loves elite LD coz of the passing game which has seen the team produce so many players to all our Zambia national teams and abroad.

  4. power is improving bit by bit its just that our couch he dd not read the game properly how can he substitute bwalya who had pace instead of Data
