President Edgar Lungu has implored Zambians to verify their details in the Voters’ register to avoid being disfranchised.

President Lungu says citizens should ensure that they participate in this year’s election so that they choose genuine leaders who will advance the country’s development agenda.

The President said this after verifying his details in the voter register in Lusaka’s Chawama Township.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- set May 15 to 21, 2016 as a period for the voter verification exercise.

  1. Beautiful! Mr. President well done! God bless you and continue to steer Zambia to new heights! Many will not be together after the election! They will start to return! All they need is money and positions! It is sad many of our politicians have no principles! They are supposed to galvanise the leadership but are not! They are full of jealous and bitterness!

  2. As part of the rigging process a number of voters will find names missing on 11th August 2016 even though they will have found their names at the time of inspecting the voters roll. Why is the whole President talking about the voters roll? The President urged Zambians to read the amended constitution knowing very well that he had manipulated the constitution to retain his Ministers in their posts after Parliament was dissolved. A controversy on the Voters Roll is coming. The reading is on the wall.

    • It shows that you have not verified your details because if you did you could have been issued with proof that at the time of verification your details were correct which then you can use on the day of voting as proof.

  3. Voter registration and verification should be an on-going process. Why restrict it to a couple of weeks or months? Redundant process!

  5. When u read the whole President saying people should check their names on the voters roll then u know a lot of people will be deliberately disenfranchised on 11th August 2016 to the advantage of ECL and PF. People will find their names deleted from the voters roll or transferred to far way constituencies and will not be able to travel and go and vote on the voting day. Its part of ECL tactics.
