President Edgar Lungu and his running mate, Inonge Wina have successfully filed-in their nominations for the August 11, Presidential election.
This was after the dual swore the affidavit confirming declarations of documents and assets.
Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- Chairperson, Esau Chulu declared that the dual’s nomination successful at exactly 10:10 hours on Thursday.
Justice Chulu says President Lungu and Vice President, Mrs Wina have been validly nominated in the August elections.
He says the declaration follows adequate scrutiny of the dual’s documents.
And President Lungu told supporters that gathered at the Nomination Centre ground that the PF remains committed to the ideals of the late President Michael Sata.
President Lungu said the PF will emerge victorious in the August polls because of its pro-poor policies.
The President said he believes in the unity of purpose hence the need for all those who aspired to various positions to remain united.
President Lungu urged all party members to accept and support all the candidates that have been adopted on the ruling party ticket.
The President said he will continue governing the country under God’s guidance.
Meanwhile, Mrs Wina urged party members to intensify campaigns.

It was a strategic decision to chose her for a running mate.
She carries only a name ( if at all ) and a province in Western Province.
The biggest province you win to win an election is the Copperbelt, Northern province and Lusaka.
She has no influence whatsoever there.
In chosing GBM, I am not sure he brings anything to sway voters in Copperbelt , but certainly will help in NP and Lusaka, with Sampa also in his pocket.

We can take a lot of positives from adoption process
A lot has been said about our adoption process. Whereas we are cognisant of the challenges we faced, we can take a lot of positives from this process. Yes, we know we have a lot to do to make our adoption process more effective.
We have been able to field parliamentary candidates in all the 156 constituencies. This is no mini fate for a party they have consistently called a regional party. On the other hand, our colleagues in the PF have missed out on 3 parliamentary seats. In Monze central they couldnt find a candidate while in Lundazi and Muchinga, their ministers in their usual incompetence failed to make it on time to the nomination centres. Equally, the PF could not find a candidate for a ward in Lukashya in Kasama in Northern province.
We feel for all our members who could not be adopted. How we wish we could adopt everyone. On average, all the applicants were very strong. But at the end of the day, only one person can go through. For us, the huge number of people who applied to stand on our party ticket…
Even at running mate level, we have seen a lot of excitment not only in the party but the nation as whole. We did not see this level of excitment for the PF running mate. Clearly, people see hope in UPND and are anxious to see that the right person emerges as running mate for our presidential candidate HH.
Lastly, we invite you for the nomination of president HH and his running mate tomorrow at Mulungushi conference centre. Please wear something red if you can.

Be United, Adoptions should not expose any weakness in the Party. You have already shown the world that you can win an election. Don’t spoil your chances like PF almost did in the previous elections.

What you need is a Good Team rather than provinces to get the economy right – this thing about province is slowly becoming less of an issue. Get the right candidates on the basis that they are able to deliver.
What i see in both PF & UPND is mediocrity in the Candidates being adopted, & these do not inspire any confidence that things will change come 11th August 2016. UPND failure to chose RUNNING MATE ahead has shown that they are not READY to form Government. i am campiagning to vote for more independent candiates as MPs, We should also have someone running as an Independent Presidential Candidate, with a running Mate.

This Lungu and his Ruining mate do not inspire at all. Lungu Is a hypocrite who pretends to be humble and Godly but behind the scenes the man is evil and busy rigging these elections. Lungu is looking to God to successfully rig these elections to stay in power. Zambians have a life changing decision to make on 11th August 2016. I hope HH will not deliberately GO late for his nomination just to find an excuse. Already we hear from the grape vine that he may have to toss a coin in choosing his running mate. How has it become a problem in this party of learned guys to agree? Is it selfishness at play?
Point of correction, Dr Simbyakula John phiri did so on purpose. In Lundazi the guy who is standing as an independent is from the PF and is more popular than John phiri so to avoid splitting of votes it was decided Dr phiri gives up. In muchinga since PF are in a pact with MMD Dr Simbyakula had to give way to MMD. Mulekwatako information not ukusaibaila fye…..

HH must be extremely careful with his choice of a running mate. He has been sidelining old members of the party in preference for invaders. If he is not careful a rude shock awaits because no right thinking person can accept Kaseba, leaning on late husband’s name (who humiliated HH in 2011) to be his running mate. GBM is also wasting his time by getting upset because he is not the people’s preferred choice. The generals have already sent a friendly warning. Any silly mistake HH will cry.
