Fire broke out at a milling plant belonging to UPND presidential running mate Geoffrey Mwamba in Lusaka’s Chinika industrial area.

Quick action by the Lusaka Fire Brigade that rushed to the scene saved the plant from reduced to ashes.

When reached for a comment, Mr Mwamba who is campaigning on the Copperbelt confirmed that the plant gutted but said he will issue a comprehensive statement later.

“I have been informed of the fire at the GBM milling plant. I will comment after I get more details.

Meanwhile we are at Chief Nkana’s palace in Lufwanyama paying a courtesy call,” Mr Mwamba said.

    • Hey stop cheap sympathy solicitation drives. This facility has been long rented to an Indian Battery recycling company called Mahesh fimofimo. As you know failure to observe best safety practices in some sensitive process has sparked this fire. It’s not a milling plant but a battery recyclin workshop. Cheap is not always cheap the chap defied every safety code per environment safety requirements.

    • GBM has rented out the premises to an Indian firm recycling metal and lead metals from batteries . ZEMA together with fire Brigade twill issue more details over the fire lets not insult each other other things we know nothing about

    • These online journalists are just becoming alarmist and dunderheads who can’t even verify stories they publish. LT says this happened in Lusaka while Zambian Eye claims the plant that has burnt is the milling company in Kasama. Can you lunatics inform the public properly. Total nonsense.

    • Politics – GBM torched the plant to frame PF and for insurance. Learn to read between the lines if you are good analysts.

Look buddy, you don’t observe “safety practices,” instead you observe safety regulations or standards. Also, failure to observe a regulation or a standard cannot spark a fire. If you want to use the word spark, make sure to mention one traceable action which was the cause. Lastly, you defy a requirement to use the codes. Codes, in and of themselves, don’t require you to do anything. You can violate them, but you cannot defy them.

On a serious note, how did you know with certainty that the safety standards were violated?

Mufwaya kuilanga ati muli ba cisungu… hehehehe (ZambiaOnline rebooted!)

  1. UPND campaign team has run out of money now they are setting fire on themselves to claim insurance. These are the people who claim to be the elite rich in Zambia? They can’t even campaign for 3 months they run out of money and start burning their milling companies. Next you will see Hichilema cattle rustling his own oxen.

Kaponya (HH), Scott Mmembe Inc and GBV have nothing to offer us except havoc, Armageddon, mayhem and destruction.

    • Kudos, sometimes you articulate issues well and even get attention. But this time around you are really hallucinating to even insinuate that UPND or indeed the owner would sink that low to do such a thing to their property. Let us use this forum to educate each other and not making or exposing our hatred towards other, we are one people big man!

    • #Kudos or Kudog cursed is the day bawi.so bat0mbel€ ban0k0 and the day ba.noko your mum drank musokasoka ati baponye infumo lyobe nomba she failed to finish the dosage as instructed by ing’nga and that’s why you were born as a premature baby and the reason for your brain failure you have been experiencing of late.

    • A hired Helicopter from Batoka Sky has been brought back in Livingstone, couldn’t manage to hire it for more than 10 days………tough moments for UPND.
