The United Party for national Development (UPND) has that it find it hard to believe that an approval was granted by the department of Civila Aviation to fly a Helicopter over the site of a UPND rally in Chawama dragging a Vote Edgar Lungu banner, while the crowd below waited to hear their leadership team speak.
In a statement released to the media, the party wondered who in the Department of Civil Aviation cleared the chopper to fly at a UPND rally, which they described as a clear violation of the electoral Act.
The Party has since called on the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to act immediately to show that such blatant disregard of legal requirements concerning elections are treated with the seriousness they warrant.

The Latest Show of PF Lawlessness
In their latest show of wanton lawlessness and intent to provoke the
opposition the PF has today flown over the site of our rally in Chawama dragging a Vote Edgar Lungu banner, while the crowd below waited to hear our leadership team speak.
We find it hard to believe that approval was granted for such a venture, particularly given strict requirements and procedures that have seen us grounded several times simply because a supposed VIP is touring in the same province as us.
The Department of Civil Aviation who cleared the chopper have done so in clear breach of the Electoral Process Act. The ECZ must act immediately to show that such blatant disregard of legal requirements concerning elections are treated with the seriousness they warrant.
Furthermore, the clear intent to provoke by PF at a rally when our supporters turned out despite intimidation and the terrible events of July 8th is highly irresponsible and shows their complete lack of regard for law and order, as well as their lack of genuine commitment
to promoting peace and unity.

First things first, there’s no department of civil aviation in Zambia but Zambia civil aviation authority. Secondly, Zambia Civil Aviation Authority doesn’t issue such permits but ZAF. So please stop accusing innocent guys imwe ba chimbwi vi upnd. Stop being cry babies for once

When applying for a clearance for that flight no one mentioned that it would also drag a banner. In fact no one was supposed to mention because boma no boma right? Wrong!!! Its because a banner is just a piece of cloth like any other. I see no harm in dragging it as a campaign strategy.

UPND and ECZ should condemned the actions of the appearance of the plane carrying a PF banner as it is disgusting and a cowardly move. This is not fair politics and Lungu should be ashamed of himself because he’s been caught with his pants down too many times. This act is completely and “unbelievably tasteless”, and “completely disrespectful”. PF… “Flying your plane over the UPND rally is beyond low.” Have some self-respect and disappear!” This is sickening disrespect for the opposition! Looking at this aerial scenario, I see PF spying while trying to steal voters. Has nothing to do with innovation and if that were the case, then people would not be losing jobs, getting killed, corruption would drop, Kwacha would have appreciated, would have seen Lungu on a presidential debate including British interview he chickened out. The banner move can be harmful due to safety standards, especially if those flying it were under the influence of alcohol. And if everyone started applying for licenses to spy or disrupt rallies, only becomes chaotic? Think long-term not short term.
