As the nation heads to Thursday’s general elections, I would like to draw attention to the numerous threats on my life by UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and his running mate Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba.
As a people’s representative, I have attempted to dismiss such threats as part of our fledgling democracy especially during this time of heated politics but I have now come to a conclusion that the two mean every word and they are bent on harming my life.
The events of the last few weeks coupled with credible intelligence reports gathered by our team in Ndola have confirmed that plans to eliminate my life have reached an advanced stage hence our decision to alert the police and nation today.
At a recent public rally in Chifubu, Mr Hichilema publicly told the people that the UPND are aware of all my movements, the vehicle I am using and where I am staying and that they will deal with me before voting day.
The same threats on me were repeated by Mr Mwamba when he recently toured Ndola but he extended the threats to my colleagues standing on the PF ticket Emmanuel Mulenga and Frank Ngambi in Ndola Central and Chifubu constituencies respectively.
We have now resolved to report the two UPND officials to the police for threatening murder and it is my hope that the police will cage these two before Thursday.
In a democratic state like ours, we cannot have two senior opposition leaders going about issuing murder threats on opponents openly. As a law abiding citizen, I have a duty to ensure that our politics are free off such characters.
I am however not surprised that Mr Hichilema and Mr Mwamba have now resorted to threatening murder against me as we head towards Thursday. The two have now established that their struggle to penetrate the Copperbelt generally and Ndola in particular is in part due to the massive resistance that our people have put up because we have mounted a proper campaign that has focused on development.
Together with my colleagues standing on the PF in Ndola, we have punched big holes in the UPND’s campaign messages and the people are now able to see through all the lies and deceit that come with the UPND.
In contrast, the people of Ndola and particularly Kabushi constituency have rallied around our message of continued hope and accelerated development through young and vibrant leadership.
In frustration, the two UPND officials have now elected to eliminate my life as a way of furthering their chances in Ndola in Thursday’s election.
This again confirms the levels of desperation that the two have to take over government. They will stop at nothing even if it means spattering blood to win this election and Zambians should be very careful with such leaders.
I however wish to sternly warm Mr Hichilema and Mr Bwalya that attempts to kill me or derail the last few days of the campaigns shall not succeed. Our conviction to deliver development to the people of Kabushi has been ordained by the Almighty God and it is He who has led our campaigns from the first day.
My entry into Parliament and President Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s re-election is guaranteed because God who knows my coming in and going out has already proclaimed so.
I wish to reiterate that we are fully aware of their evils plans and that our intelligence team is far more advanced and always 10,000 steps ahead of them.
To the people of Zambia in general and the people of Kabushi in particular, i urge you to remain peaceful as we go towards Thursday. Let us conclude our campaigns in a peaceful manner and go and vote for President Lungu and Bowman Lusambo respectively for a better Zambia and a better Kabushi.
