The lid for the ballot box with serial number ECZ-16 0430212 was allegedly found in a nearby bush along the Mpongwe Luanshya Road on Saturday night.
The lid was discovered by the locals who reported the case to Mpongwe District Police station.
Meanwhile, the Patriotic Front (PF) leadership in Mpongwe has expressed concern over the mysterious lid which has sparked protests among PF members in the district.
The patriotic front members want ECZ to establish how the lid for the ballot box was found in the bush.
District Electral officer Francis Nkhoma said he could not comment on the issue as it was under police investigation.
PF candidate Emmanuel Kasambo has said he would petition the parliamentary results for this year’s election.
Mr Kasambo said the discovery of the lid was a sign of Electral malpractice in the Mpongwe constituency polls.
“It is a must that I will petition and I will sight ECZ because the elections were conducted in a manner that is not fair and for me they need to explain where the lid came from and they are assuming it came from outside Mpongwe which does not make sense.” He said.
“My agents were not given official results of what was happening in the polling stations so I need explanations.” He added.
UPND candidate Rasfold Bulaya who is former Mpongwe District commissioner polled 9793 votes seconded by Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Emmanuel Kasambo who polled 8271.
When UPND complain about the reckless manner in which the election results are handled, it is accused of holding the nation at ransom because PF is in a hurry to win an election tampered in their favor .

He said he will petition not prevent ECZ from doing their job, there is a difference. UPND can petition the results after counting. There is no law that allows them from stopping the counting and verification of votes. If there are votes that are dubious they will be rejected. That is how the process works.

People must clear the fog in their heads. How can HH win the presidential election with 44 seats for MP’s while PF has 93 seats and the remaining few are spread out to independent, FDD and MMD candidates.93 for PF represents 59.61%, UPND 28.20%, OTHERS 12.19%.
Of course if you want to think in simple terms it is not possible for HH to win. How I wish the party with the most MPs choose a president in parliament, we would not have all this mess. It is possible that even where a PF MP has won they have given HH more voted whereas where UPND have won, they PF have gotten so little votes as is the case in Dundumwezi. Such issues and numbers can influence the presidential result.
Do maths properly. Find average vote for hh and ecl for all 156 constituencies.

Yes people! One of the PF riggers stay in Luanshya. Ask kambwili because they are friends. This is the guy who was planted to steal votes for PF in Luanshya,Masaiti and Mpongwe. He was giving a lot of money to polling agents and poll staff. But he did have enough pre marked ballot pappers for mpongwe,hence mission not coplete to help kasambo win.
Just request for a re count or challenge for a rerun . it is your right.
