The opposition UPND says suggestions by the PF that Hakainde Hichilema is pushing to meet Edgar Lungu are a scheme to negotiate for a government of national unity are laughable.
UPND Secretary General Stephen Katuka said in an interview that the UPND does not have any intentions of forming a coalition government with the PF.
Mr Katuka said Mr Hichilema wrote to Mr Lungu in the interest of safeguarding national peace and security after the post-election violence witnessed in some parts of the country.
He said there is no way the UPND can for a government of national unity with the PF because the two parties have different ideologies.
“Our interest is forming a decent government. We cannot work with people that have failed to provide decent leadership to Zambia. There is no way we could even work together because we have different ideologies and our values are different,” Mr Katuka said.
He said the PF is trying to portray the UPND is a violent party and any initiatives aimed at fostering peace coming from the UPND leadership will be scorned upon.
“We know their grand plan. They want to kill all independent media so that the UPND voice and image is totally blacked out. When they do that then they will escalate their evil intentions of painting the UPND as a heartless and evil plan as part of their scaremongering tactics but Zambians know all this and that is why Zambians voted enmass for the UPND in the last election,” he said.

To be president of Upnd you must be Tonga. That was starkly and sadly reflected in the election where in Southern Provincince they voted en masse for Hh. What the PF GOVT had done for them was irrelevant.

Can’t those who speak more than 7 Zambian languages help us to come up with an integrated language that we can call a Zambian language? One other way (not the only way) is to start changing the way we name our children. First name should never be English but from one of any other tribes in Zambia. Priotize inter marriages over those of your own … and bit by bit it will make a bundle. First name comes from your wife’s family or any other tribe of your choice other than just yours!

UPND project proposals have been submitted more than 6 times but rejected each time.
So you are right it has not been implemented because it is a failed proposal.
UPND under HH, has become a personal party. With only 55 seats, UNPD wanting to claim the presidency, imagine! It’s HH who wants a coalition government because he has few Mps in parliament.

If HH was interested in peace he would not have called on his people to ‘rise up and defend democracy’ on Sunday, a day before ECL was declared winner, he would have not said before elections, “if I lose I will not accept the results. There will be amagedon”.
HH wants to meet ECL just to get in the limelight, feature on camera, solicit public attentention, and try to mend up the scars he has made on himself. Also he wants to take some mineral water on camera.

Nawakwi claims people in her village did not vote for her, that’s tribalism. ECL did not condemn Panji Kaunda for the tribal campaign in Eastern province, that’s tribalism. HH was not very forceful in stopping the guys perpetuating violence in southern province, that’s tribalism.
