Kelvin Mubanga impresses Patrick Phiri

Sports Kelvin Mubanga impresses Patrick Phiri

Forest Rangers coach and ex-Chipolopolo boss Patrick Phiri has hailed Power Dynamos winger Kelvin Mubanga’s astonishing free-kick taking skills.

Mubanga on Sunday scored a brace through well struck free kicks to propel Power to a 2-1 win over Forest in a league match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

In a post-match interview, Phiri likened Mubanga to ex-England and Real Madrid star David Beckham.

“Power have a very good free kick taker (Mubanga). Obviously they are getting dividends from a seasoned free kick taker,” the veteran trainer said

“He takes like David Beckham, he is very accurate. I think it is rare to see this kind of accuracy in our country,” Phiri remarked.

Mubanga has emerged as one of the free-kick specialists on the local football front.

The ex-Zambia Under-23 star has been scoring free kicks since his days at Kitwe United and Nkana.
