A 30 YEAR OLD woman of Rescourse area in Kitwe has been arrested by police for allegedly stabbing her husband to death with a knife after she caught him having sex with her young sister.

Copperbelt province commissioner of police Charity Katanga has told Mwebantu in an interview. She said the incident occurred on Tuesday around 19.00 following a heated argument between the couple.

Mrs Katanga identified the woman as Gertrude Chinyama while her husband has been identified as Muvunga Chinyama.

“The reports we got are that the woman allegedly found her husband in a sexual act with her young sister and this incensed her. So she got a knife and stabbed her husband who died instantly,” Mrs Katanga said.

She said the suspect was apprehended by the neighbours who rushed to the couple’s house upon hearing some noise.

Mrs Katanga said Mr Chinyama’s body is lying in the Kitwe Central hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

  1. She acted out of anger. The court will reduce the case to manslaughter. She can even serve 2 years in prison. Nyele banyamata. Why chew yamunyumba when you can find mahule everywhere

  2. I agree with Q-Life, two wrongs never make a right. The best the wife could have done (too late now and despite the anger/situation she was in at the material time), was to quietly accept that such things happen and then; consult elders etc., and then divorce simple. I am sure she could have found another man somewhere in the future than facing the now serious consequences that may follow, as a result of the murder of her hubby. This is a very sad situation to be in, God please be merciful…

  3. Quoting Mahatma Gandhi’s words “An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind”. An intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction. I strongly hold the view of those saying she made a foolish decision to kill her husband instead of consulting elder for a possible divorce.
