Government has revealed that President Edgar Lungu is consulting with his lawyers following the Constitutional Court’s decision to adjourn the Presidential election petition to Monday September 5, 2016.
This is according to a press statement issued by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda.
Mr. Chanda added that a government statement will be issued on Monday September 5, 2016.
And Mr. Chanda revealed that President Lungu has reiterated his call for Zambians to remain calm and respect law and order.

They can NOT go ahead with the inauguration, the Chief Justice can NOT inaugurate a president when a petition is active. The ConCourt has powers to extend the hearing.

We all know that’s what the loser HH wants is for the President to hand over power to speaker so he and his dirt dark forces can manipulate the ConCourt but it will never happen and moreover where in the constitution is it stated?
But extending a defunct petition beyond it’s stipulated time is a crime and will not be tolerated. 14 days elapsed on 2nd September 2016 at 23:59 and those who could finish their businesses in that time knew it and that why they abandoned HH and GBM. So the issue of resuming on Monday 5th September 2016 does not hold water!

ECL won the election and HH lost, period. Nothing will change that reality. If the Concourt tries to change that reality and declare HH as the victor, there will be civil war in Zambia. I can foresee all the Concourt judges running for their lives and having all their assets burnt to ashes. Is this what we want, just because of one self-centred person called Hakainde Hichilema? I would rather have HH in prison and the rest of our innocent Zambians living in harmony and peace.

The abuse continues. Why should he continue to use this government employee to speak of his behalf on issues that are personal? Does ECL really understand the constitutional issues his behaviour raises? My main problem with him is that he seems to contemplate and reflect of his actions. We are in this mess because of his constant disregard of the rules that should guide the presidency. If he survives this challenge, I shiver to contemplate the kind of problems we will end in as a country. One can understand his lack of comprehension of the workings of the economy, but not the constitution. I hope he doesn’t think that his case will be paid for by the Zambian people.

He kept Ministers on illegally; has failed to follow the law in-terms of handing over power to the Speaker; thought he could force an inauguration but has found that it is not black and white. Concourt should give us a break and Order Lungu to handover the instruments of power to the Speaker of Parliament and allow the Petetion Process to be concluded by 8th Sept. Concourt should not entertain Lungu until he has complied with the law. We know that stubborn Lungu wants Concourt to abort the Petetion process and declare him the Winner of this election. Concourt must have the courage and strip Lungu of stolen executive powers and vest these in the Speaker of Parliament as Acting President. Left alone Lungu will damage Zambia’s record of holding clean elections. Concourt must Not backtrack on its decision to extend the Petetion Hearing to the 8th of Sept. Lungu should not be allowed to waste time delaying the Hearings. Concourt must order ECZ, ZNBC and IBA all the data on Election…

Lets hope the PF lawyers advised Lungu to voluntarily comply with the Constitution and transfer the instruments of power to the Speaker of Parliament, Dr Matibini to act as President while Concourt is dealing with the Petetion. It is better for Lungu to do this voluntarily instead of Concourt ordering him to do so. Given Lungu’s stubborness he will refuse to step down and if Lungu is given an order by Concourt he will ignore and continue with illegality. Most Tongas are just a problem. Many people do not know why Kaunda came up with the one party state. Tongas were voting for Nkumbula’s ANC the same way they vote for UPND. They used to beat up people who did not support ANC the same way they are beating up people suspected to be PF.
So when we fought for Multiparty Democracy, they regrouped as a tribe to support Chiluba instead of Arthur Wina for selfish reasons. They knew it would be easier to have a tonga as president after chiluba than after Wina.
When chiluba’s term was going to an end Mazoka became a ward treasurer for MMD in Bauleni with a view to take over MMD from there. Sata read the intention and somehow expelled Mazoka from MMD.
Whereupon Mazoka formed the UPND. Since then Tongas have never voted for any one else apart…
