Zambians living in the diaspora have been advised to air their grievances through the Ministry of Foreign affairs and other relevant government institutions if their concerns are to be addressed.

President Lungu gave the advice when he met Zambian nationals living in America during a “Meet the President Meeting” in New York last evening.

The Head of State assured the Zambians in diaspora that his government will treat all Zambian nationals equally regardless of their base.

President Lungu disclosed that his government has provided for a clause for dual citizenship and urged interested citizens to follow up the matter with the ministry of home affairs.

He however cautioned Zambian nationals living abroad to be disciplined and follow the laws of the host countries.

Mr Lungu also advised Zambians to remain united and reflect on some countries that have failed to maintain peace and see for themselves the anguish citizens of such countries are going through.

“Lets remain as united Zambians, you have seen how other countries have been without unity. For those who want to be here for good, I have made it for you through the provision of a clause in the constitution to enable your dual citizenship,” added President Lungu.

President Lungu also dispelled the issue of tribalism and regionalism as vices only promoted by some politicians during campaigns and that tribalism will end when people become united regardless of where they come from.

He however, explained that tribalism does not exist even among political leaders, in social gatherings such as football matches, drinking places and marriages among others.

The President stressed that there is equally no province that is tribal but only certain individuals.

President Lungu further noted that nobody will ascend to the position of republican president on tribal lines and that people can only ascend to the presidency only when they are embraced by the majority across the country.

Earlier, Permanent Representative of Zambian Mission to the United Nations Mwaba Kasese Bota in her congratulatory message to President Lungu’s re- election noted that democracy is a game of numbers as such president Lungu scored the majority hence retaining the presidency.

Dr Bota said her office has a good working relationship with the over 500 Zambians living in the diaspora who are also keen to work with the PF administration to foster development.

And, Zambians in Diaspora Community Chairperson representative Cynthia Chirwa told President Lungu that Zambians in the diaspora have embraced the One Zambia One Nation motto and want peace, unity and development to flourish in Zambia.

Dr. Chirwa also thanked the president for allowing the dual citizenship clause in the constitution as it will help Zambians living abroad participate fully in the national affairs of the country.

    • Nice photos guys! But what is this whole business of taking Dununa Reverse at the UN? I gentleman with Ba Esther is secretive Mungwalala with whoever the other gentleman his with in the pose chatting with the First Lady. It must have been a session of mulamu…we are back in power you the intelligentsia help us plunder if you can. That is Chagwa’s relative in Diaspora. Poor remaining poor politicians partying even at UN. Sad sad sad.

    • Ati he’s dancing Nafuti..! Bamobene abantu ati HH taseka. Obama plays “ball” ati ako kaliba simple, takayifinya. Sata jumps on a mini-bus ati ebantu abs, Chiluba stops to buy groundnuts at John Chinena mkt, at efyo chifwayika. Boris Johnson rides a bicycle ati Nomba abesu!

Let the man be his own man & create his own legacy, good or bad. If it’s through dancing, so be it.

Very soon after he’s done his part you’ll be wishing he was around to dance with you. Ati nga nika Lungu apa nga ka chishana…!

    • What is important is that as he dances, he’s also working. Haven’t you seen the Obamas dancing with Ellen Degeneres et al? Or appearing on social platforms like late night shows where they do nothing but joke & fool around, and that’s in the most powerful country on earth? Yet ours is not even fooling around, at least not yet, and hopefully never will…

    • It’s not Lungu who allowed the dual citizenship clause in the constitution. So why are you thanking him for it? He’s wrongly crediting himself with giving the dual citizenship clause to the Zambians by saying,” For those who want to be here for good, I have made it for you through the provision of a clause in the constitution to enable your dual citizenship.” Notice his emphasis on “I.” This is completely false, and only a king speaks like that. It’s not Lungu giving Zambians their constitutional rights. The document just reflects the wishes of the Zambian people, and had he decided to not sign it, people would have legally fought him for it. He’s just hoodwinking you. Heck, he doesn’t even seem to understand what the constitution says, as seen from what happened a few days…

    • (Continued)… ago, when he said he didn’t know whether to appoint 30 or 40 ministers, because the constitution wasn’t clear to him.

  1. We are writing Foreign Affairs right now! I think we need to look into the help offered to ‘Diaspora’ (that title again) citizens abroad who want to relocate back home! It’s really hard to get property documents processed, it takes forever! I been waiting 6 months to start business and getting bother! Nothing ever gets done in reasonable time! I wanna get started but being delayed! Maybe have an express centre??

  2. I would like to know how to channel out concerns through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs when their representatives on foreign mission are openly self declared cadres?

  3. I thought Dununa Reverse ended on August 11th, ALAS, I am mistaken.

HE ECL is at it again, he loves his dununa Reverse thing…….. here he goes..

  4. Glad i won’t waste time on such meetings. My time is for folks with ideas and values not empty social gathherings, politics 24/7 and clueless personalities.

Edgar Lungu will not bring development based on merit ,but only if you kiss PF’s ass.

  5. Beyond just drinking and dancing, one hopes that ECL will take advantage of this trip and meet potential investors/market Zambia. There are reports that Namibia’s Geingob has gone all out doing just that.

    • It is not reports, I can confirm that “Namibia Commerce and prosperity NYC 2016” investment forum is on and having the Key decision makes right in there under the leadership of HE Geingob.

That is what is called economic diplomacy not just using the words in speeches.

No comment on the first part of your post.

  6. You are all just jealous.Let him be…he came to the UN summit and he took time to come see us Zambians in the tristate.
He is a human being, let him leave a little,he wasn’t drunk,he was asked to dance with his people…it’s called insansa.

  7. UPND bloggers are all haters, anything ECL does is rubbish, what kind of pipo are these? Please leave him alone and concentrate on organising your useless party for 2021 which will be very difficult for you to win considering the behaviour you exhibited before, during and after the August elections.

  8. Please let them continue criticising because it will give PF another victory come 2021 people will teach them a lesson hagain it is this same behaviour that cost them dearly in the just ended elections.AMATAKÌ
