The Lusaka High Court today heard that murder suspect Precious Liteebele shot her husband accidentally.

This is in a case in which precious is charged with the murder of her husband, Lubinda Liteebele, whom she allegedly shot five times on May 24 2016.

Testifying before Lusaka High Court Judge Sharon Newa, Precious’s Mother Ruth Longwe of john Laing compound in Lusaka said on the material day, she received a call around 01 in the morning from her son in law Lubinda Liteebele telling her to call her daughter whom he had left at a party.

Mrs Longwe, who is a hairdresser, said she thereafter called her daughter to go back home.

However, at around 04 hours, she received a call from her daughter who requested to speak to her father telling him there was an accident at home following threats by her husband to kill her.

Mrs Longwe narrated that when her father asked what happened precious Longwe explained that whilst struggling during the altercation the gun went off and shot her husband Lubinda.

She said after that she rushed to the house and found her daughter handcuffed and on a police van whilst her son in law was laying in a pool of blood in the living room.

The court also heard that the couple was married for over 6 years and most weekends would go out for parties and were both drinking.

Meanwhile, another witness detective Sergeant Charles Banda of Woodlands police station narrated how he was called by a Criminal Investigations Officer around 04:20 to attend to a murder case.

He said upon arrival, he found the deceased laying in a pool of blood with four empty cartridges and 1 live ammunition at the scene.

Sergeant Banda said whilst searching for any firearm in the house, he found four batches of 50 kwacha notes.

And another witness, Inspector Patrick Hamakalu said he apprehended the suspect after the matter was reported by the deceased brother.

And another witness from the University Teaching Hospital, Dr Daniel Maswahu told the court that’s the deceased died of multiple gunshots which resulted in blood loss.

Dr Maswahu who is a medical doctor and pathologist told the court that during the examination, he retrieved two gun bullets whilst the and 3rd one could not be retrieved as it was in the chest.

He however said during the examinations, he discovered that’s the deceased had fatty liver mostly caused by chronicle alcohol intake.

And ZICTA Cyber Security Officer Chewe Mutale also submitted to the court the texts messages between the couple which began on 24th May.

Ms. Chewe said having been asked by the police to extract the messages between precious Longwe’s IPhone 6 and Lubinda Liteebele’s blackberry curve and that according to the messages presented, the couple had differed.

Meanwhile, Zambia Police Senior Superintendent Steven Zulu said he conducted physical examination on the pistol which was used on the deceased.

He said the pistol however cannot fire accidentally if safety catches are applied.

Hearing continues on 6th October and precious remains locked up.

  1. THIS LADY IS IN HOT SOUP. SHE KILLED HER HUSBAND IN VETY COLD BLOOD. YOU CSNNOT SHOOT SOMEONE ACVIDENTALLY, FIVE TIMES IN THE CHEST AND HEART. ACCIDENTALLY.!!!???

    • Can you imagine? who would call five shots an accident? Maybe if it was one shot it would make sense. She knew exactly what she was doing

  2. She must watch Snapped or a woman scorned, too much!!Shame and sad to those small kids to grow up without a father and a mother.
    Selfishness???

  3. At times I wonder y courts waste time on obvious cases like this one..! Can someone call shooting 5 times an accident…? Finally it will be manslaughter not murder..! The woman is a criminal…!

  4. Circumstances of the case should support the theory of accidental shooting. But where the accused accuses the deceased’s brother instead of owning up to the accident, then the theory fails. To me the old lady’s word does not help her daughter’s case. Iliko bad.

  5. Oscar Pretorius in reverse. Let us see how the Zambia justice system and law fraternity will handle this. At best, with a good lawyer, this will come out as manslaughter, 3 – 5 years.

  6. She is going to plead that she was drunk and therefore wasn’t in right frame of mind therefore cannot held accountable.

  7. How can both drink sure…? This is the result of mistrust n jealous, she remained at the party chilling n wen g her mother called her ti gi home, she charged at her husband resulting in death.

  8. There was no mistake or accidental shooting here. This beautiful bodied but evil hearted lady had planned all of this for months. This was premeditated murder.!!. Is the stealing of millions of monies from the bank where she was working and keeping it in her matrimonial home also an accident ? I strongly believe that her husband must have been nagging her to take the money back and also she was afraid that he will report her to the police. So before he did that, she shoot him. MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMEN AND HANDSOME MEN, HAVE EVIL UGLY SOULS. May the soul of her husband rest in peace.

  9. This is what happens when you hire a defense lawyer from “Matero University”. How can you surely use accidental shooting when 5 shots were fired?
She is going in – second degree murder!!
She could have used provocation at least for a possible acquittal or lesser sentence.

  10. This was a crime of passion. There are a lot of unexplained things here. Rumors are all over that dude was even chopping the house help. The best Precious can do is come out clean because all the same she will not be going scott free. The root cause needs to be unveiled here and this can only happen if Precious comes out clean. RIP brother man.

  11. Twalakonka bwino umulandu – to find twenokane loot cause!! Kasaka!? Don’t be ntweno playfully here! This girl is accident – Jeeeeeeezes!!!!

  12. Why courts would give you so much time is to prevent a situation where one says 14 days is 7 days and was not given chance to be heard.

  13. Unbelievable circumstances!!!! Precious should accept her deeds. Let her tell the world the truth. Her life will never be the same the bible says “you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free” Know the truth who is jesus christ. come out and tell the truth. Your husband is dead but the truth is not dead. You tell it all, Otherwise you will never be free even if you win the the case. remember the Judgement day. there nothing you can hide from God. He is all knowing. Be prudent, this should your turning point. the bible also tells us that “the wages of sin is death”. If you don’t want to be haunted, tell the truth, nothing but the truth.

  14. IF you go out to drink with your wife all the time or she goes alone, just know that your marriage is highly compromised and anything can happen. Alcohol impairs judgment, most bad things happens under the influence of Alcohol, Vis-à-vis unprotected causal sex, fornication, adultery, drug abuse, theft, road accidents and MURDER.

  15. This woman must be jailed, one short we (might say it was by mistake but twice she meant to kill, he has no mercy, guys you must be careful don’t marry because you might be the next victim
