President Edgar Lungu has said that he would be announcing the creation of four Ministries which would be subject to ratification by the National Assembly.
Speaking at Statehouse today when he swore in cabinet Ministers, the President stated that Zambia has abundant water resource and that water shortages should be addressed adequately hence the need for a Ministry that will work on this.
The President also announced that Housing will be realigned to Infrastructure development to address the housing challenges that the country was currently faced with.
The President expressed deep concern that a lot of people in the country were still living in substandard houses more than 50 years after Zambia’s independence.
The President implored the Ministers not to forget the pronouncements that the Patriotic Front (PF) made to the Zambian people by focusing on service delivery to the Zambian people.
President Lungu underscored the need for the Ministers to actualise the pronouncements that the PF made to the Zambian people and that they should be guided by the Manifesto to execute their work.
The President advised some Ministers whose victory in the August 11 general elections is being challenged in the courts of law not to be swayed by that, but focus on service delivery to the Zambian people.
“We should remember what we promised the people of Zambia. The manifesto is there to guide, so let’s go and work,” The President said.

Smaller but effective government is the way to go. Zambia right now has no money to be adding some more ministries. It’s poor government spending, especially after you blew so much money on the inauguration and your recent trip to the USA. From what I read, these guys spent over $400,000 on chartering a plane to the USA. And yet Zuma of South Africa had to use public commercial flight to the same meeting. Wasting so much money, and then failing to pay teachers their salaries is irresponsible. We don’t need a bloated government that does nothing but waste taxpayers’ money. Parliament needs to reject this proposition. There’s absolutely no need to create these new ministries. Most likely, ECL is just trying to reward some of his buddies with government positions.
My thoughts too why create when we are failing to fund the ones we have. Zambia the failed state for sure.

Shortly before and after independence local authorities aka municipalities had all the resources at their disposal and were LOCALLY providing services to their people. Now this idea of thinking creating a shiny new saddle in the capital city will solve problems of a poor lady and gentleman in Shangombo is really wishful thinking. The so-called ‘unbundling’ of state enterprises is nothing but a fad; we had an efficient system of utilities being sold wholesale to municipalities and they serviced their people efficiently until wamuyaya and District Governors entered the fray! Awe mwe!
There is absolutely no democracy in Zambia. The private media was tormented right from the begining with Post newspapers closed down while ZNBC was and still a mouth piece for Lungu and PF prior to elections. Zambians are not peaceful as Lungu tells the world but are docile who fear for the unknown.

Yes Mr President this is justifiable as there are no deputy ministers to carry out policy duties. The constitution allows up to 30 cabinet ministers. The ministerial appointments so are look good. We await the completion of the full cabinet.

President Lungu is showing lack of seriousness. His Government has a time table to deliver in 5 years and very soon his new Minister of Finance is supposed to be presenting the budget. To do that he needs a full compliment of Ministries to properly budget and assign resources. The budget will need to be discussed by Cabinet and Parliament soon. But it is disappointing that at this late hour Lungu is still dreaming of people to appoint to Ministries. Time is essence bwana! Can someone shake Lungu from his stupor or sleep? PF has to deliver othewise come 2021 this party will be out. Cabinet needs to be completed now otherwise all those that have not been appointed are irrelevant.
