Wedson: We are sorry

Share

Wedson Nyirenda has apologized to the Chipolopolo fans for Sunday’s loss after the massive support and turnout at Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola.

Zambia’s 2018 FIFA World Cup Group B qualifying campaign suffered a first day setback when they lost 2-1 at home against Nigeria.

“I think I have to apologize to the fans, they are very good people, they gave us support from the first whistle and they were chanting for us throughout but football being what it is we disappointed them after giving away the two goals in the first half,” Nyirenda said.

“We are going to compensate to give the fans what they deserve.”

Nyirenda next game will be an away Group B game against second placed Cameroon on November 12.

Zambia are bottom of Group B with zero points, Cameroon and Algeria are tied on one point after they drew 1-1 while Nigeria top match day one on three points.

  1. Comment: team selection is bad our strikers are above 50years . Midlands vs copperbelt team selection it is better to have young men lose in future they can do better

  2. How can you be apologizing when you are a temp coach after one game? FAZ better get in a Professional full time coach you have had all this time with George you would have already known whether you want a foreign coach or local…stop experimenting.

  3. Honestly I dont see us picking any points from any of the remaining games. We need to take the approach of the southafrican team and build a team that will play the next Afcon and world cup period.

  4. Ba Wedson the world cup is not like a madalas game. You need to seriously up your selection next time especially in the midfield and defence. Adopt a fast paced game, this would have worked well against Naija.

  5. Chris Katongo would have fought and fought !! Let’s accept that some players are well beyond their Sale by Dates – Kennedy Mweene, Rainford Kalaba, Winstone Kalengo, Nathan Sinkala, Chisamba Lungu should all have been rested. Idon’t see us winning in Yaonde !!

  6. Appointing a competent coach is the least of Zambia’s worries. You still need a competent administration that arranges competitive friendlies to assess players and makes sure the team’s kit is purchased long before a match.
