Zesco United coach George Lwandamina has hailed the character showed by his players when beating Power Dynamos 1-0 in Saturday’s Barclays Cup semifinal match at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

Zesco overcame Power despite enduring a tough first half to reach the final where they will face Zanaco in November.

The four-time Barclays Cup winners looked calm as they endured a torrid first half at Power.

“We expected a tough game. It is good that the boys have risen to the occasion to reach the final,” Lwandamina told journalists.

“We knew Power will come at us but we kept our composure and in the end we scored,” he said.

Power coach Dan Kabwe attributed the loss to complacency in his team.

“We did well in the first half but went to sleep in the second half. We went to sleep and allowed these guys (Zesco) to play in own our half. We gifted Zesco a goal,” Kabwe said.

He added:”I am not disappointed. I mean if you don’t put up 100 percent of your performance you don’t win.”
