Zesco United says Coach George Lwandamina has a three-year contract at the club and has not communicated his intentions at the end of the contract.

This follows media reports that Lwandamina is in Tanzania having talks and at the verge of signing a two-year contract with Young Africans Sporting Club.

In a joint statement, ZESCO United Acting General Secretary Richard Mulenga and Media Officer Katebe Chengo said if indeed these media reports are true, Lwandamina will be in breach of his contract with the club, we believe he is a professional and is expected to behave as such.

“Lwandamina has a three year running contract that expires in January 2017 and the club has not entered into negotiations to have the contract extended and Lwandamina has not communicated his intentions at the end of the contract,” the statement read.

“As far as the Club is concerned, Lwandamina is in Monze attending a family bereavement as he stated on Sunday when he sought permission to leave from the Team Manager, Mr Mabvuto Banda and is expected to return to camp today for the midweek rescheduled game against Nkwazi FC in Lusaka tomorrow. We believe that he is aware of his contractual obligations and implications of a possible breach.”

  1. Contract ending January, 2017. There is still time for ZESCO to negotiate their next contract. Does it mean with hardly 3 months to go, he cannot start looking elsewhere? Besides Ba Zesco, can you beat $18,000/month package? Just do a counter-offer, don’t say he is not going anywhere….. Kaili….!!!

    • Du.ll you zesco. You’re even proud to say the contract is ending in Jan 2017 and that the club has not entered into negotiations to extend the contract. The coach will simply run down his contract and no threat can stop him. If you people appreciate his service, negotiations should have been concluded by now.

    • Three months no discussion about his new contract. He has the right to seek new job which can start at the beginning of next season.. 2017 soccer season.

  2. George Chicken must be careful he will end up on the blocks. Its better form to negotiate better terms after the expiry of the current contract. In any way soccer is about delivering positive results in return for a good pay.

  3. Lwandamina or Rwandamina (Translated as Rwanda is mine in Rwanda, his home country) has the right to return to his region after years in Zambia.

  4. Ba Zesco please grow up…We are not called to hold people it’s his democratic right if he wants to go let him…coz you will end out having a person whose mind is else where leading to the failure of the team… my advise look for a foreign coach and buy some players 2 defenders 1 midfielder 2 strikers FULL STOP…Please let him go if he wants to…

  5. There are times in life that we human beings are blinded by making quick money and at the end we regret. If I were chicken, I would hsve stayed at zesco to prove my potential and my integrate.Let’s not rush for big chunks that will never see us anywhere.

  6. BUT GEORGE IS A REAL CHICKEN , HE CROOKS A BEREAVEMENT IN MONZE BUT THE MAN WENT TO TANZANIA, ,,,HAHAHAH…BE SINCERE WHEN GETTING PERMISSION FROM BOSSES OTHERWISE A REAL BEREAVEMENT WILL FALL ON YOU AND ZESCO MANAGEMENT TO HEAR YOU WHERE IN TZ HMMMM…NDIYE KU MONZE UKO???
