President Edgar Lungu is this morning expected to swear in four newly appointed Ministers for the recently created Ministries.
Sources at State House have indicated that Mpulungu MP Freedom Sikazwe will be sworn as Presidential Affairs while Chingola Central MP Mathew Nkuwa will be sworn in as Works and Supply Minister with Ronald Chitotela being shifted to Housing and Infrastructure Development.
Mpika Central MP Sylvia Chalikosa has been appointed Minister in the Vice President’s Office while Matero MP Mulenga Kazhiya takes up Water and Sanitation portfolio.
Pastor Godfridah Sumaili will also be sworn in today as Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs.
Clueless, visionless, heartless PF. It is more money in their pockets while we are suffering. Youths in the slums fight over coins while it is jobs for the boys at State House.
The same youths you feel pity for are lethal during elections and campaigns. They are called cadres and are ready to kick your butt at anytime even when you feel pity for them. The same youths where the voters who chose these very damn politicians. Just move on brother.

If need arises to grow Govt’s capacity/size, we can surely do that later in line with the capacity/size of the economy to comfortably support such a bloated Govt—currently, I personally see NO CONVINCING REASON for new Ministries other than to create more jobs for the President’s cronies.

President Edgar Lungu needs to slow down before he loses the confidence of ordinary Zambians who are looking at this and go; WHAT IS IT FOR ME? You remove SUBSIDIES (entailing higher prices for the ordinary Zambian,) but then you turn around and create new Ministries which, from an ordinary Citizen point of view, are only likely going to swallow up every little Ngwee you save from fuel/electricity subsidy removal—this is the kind of UNNECESSARY PR NIGHTMARE GOVT tend to create for itself without thinking!

There is simply no reasonable justification for 40 ministries, Province ministers, District..shani ..shani uko…crazy. It simply shows we have very inefficient and incompetent people who are not capable e.g to run one ministry that combine both current ministries of Education (as an example only), otherwise why have two ministries? People are suffering, Mr ECL, transfer that money to help those who need it.

The ministries of Housing and infrastructure and Water and sanitation should have been merged into one.
Sanitaion has everything to do with household hygiene. it will be interesting to see if there will be no crushing of duties between the two ministries. Further , the Water component should have been with the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Infact water and sanitation together with environmental protection should have been under Health. All these are health matters mwebantu.Anyway we understand the powers-that-be have to create jobs for friends and relatives.
I still contend that the Ministries the way they were under MMD was just ok. They were structure with the perspective of achieving the vision 2030! When we examine these re-alignments and ask what is intended to be achieved,we see that it appears “mumbo-jumbo”!We cannot be re-aligning Ministries every time and again, after each election just to accommodate cadres! When is he in fact going to close some of the diplomatic missions?
