The Zambia Police service is offering a reward of a hundred thousand Kwacha to any persons that will provide information on people that are burning property around the country.
Police Inspector General Kakoma Kanganja says the fire outbreaks recently experienced in the country are not all accidental.
Mr. Kanganja said some of the fires are started deliberately by criminals with ill intentions hence anyone connected to these cases will be convicted.
He said patrols have been intensified and other measures taken to normalise the situation in the country.
Mr. Kanganja also called on members of the public to unite and help the police to ensure the safety of the nation.
“This state of affairs which started with the setting ablaze of property in market places and now spreading to other properties, has resulted in a lot of people losing their valuable properties worth huge sums of money,” he said.
“As Zambia Police, we are calling upon all well-meaning and patriotic citizens of this country to join hands with us and ensure that all the criminals behind this spate of the unfortunate scenario are fished out and arrested forthwith. We believe that with the participation of members of the public, all the perpetrators of these atrocious acts will soon be brought to book so that the Law can take its course,” Mr Kanganja said.
“We are doing everything possible to restore the situation back to normal so that people can continue conducting their daily businesses in a conducive environment devoid of any fear. We have intensified patrols and have introduced static Guard duties on strategic installations and market areas throughout the country as well as increased police presence in volatile areas.”
He added, “We are also offering a reward of K 100,000.00 to any person or persons that will provide us with the information which will lead to the arrest and conviction of people connected to these retrogressive cases of Arson.”
If you saw your house burning, what would stop you from putting the fire out?
It’s ZESCO
Dont even go far. They are called UPND cadres. Just hit GBM harder in his big stomach he will reveal his henchmen.
How can one person burn, a secondary in Northern province, and rush to Luapula and burn Shoprite in Mansa, then he goes to Livingstone southern province. Only disrupted high voltage electricity can do that. Yes its zesco, I want reward.
It is PF. They can wantonly do anything and the PF Police Force will ignore the culprits. PF cadres are finding that the jobs and money they are promised and thought they would get are nowhere and are now wreaking havoc as revenge against a very selfish PF govt.
You saying it is zesco,u mean this zesco thing started after the loss of upnd.wait soon u b caught and pay for yo action.and zambians are watching u closely.
I can hear curses “we won’t accept election results, burn them out!”
It doesn’t take rocket science to figure out that these are the evil works of the fire worshipping Free Masson cult UPND.
Kaponya (HH) and GBM are behind this arson.
They think the marketeers will revolt country wide
It’s Zesco you twit!
@Mr Kudo And the Fire Brigade you dodo!
@Mr Kudos and you are forgetting Water Authorities ****** we!
IT IS THE PF CADRES WHO WERE PROMISED TO GET MANSIONS, JOBS AND MONEY IF THEY WORKED VERY HARD TO GET LUNGU BACK INTO POWER. LUNGU IS NOW BACK INTO POWER BUT SAD ENOUGH THESE PF CADRES HAVE BEEN REWARDED NOTHING FOR THEIR TOIL. THEY ARE NOW VENTING THEIR FRUSTRATION BY TORCHING EVERYTHING AROUND THEM. IT IS A DUNUNA REVERSE!
Its pf morons burning markets with a view to blame it on upnd.
Upnd under GBM cannot be ruled out. It will come out soon.
Only a blood thirsty animal would burn someone’s property. Blood thirsty animals come in different shapes and sizes but are more often than not over zealous UPND thugs.
PF stop playing the black mamba Games will put Zambia on fire.
I think you can remember someone promising armageddon.
Comment: It,s all coming out from PF thugs who want to incriminate the UPND leadershjp.
Kitwes chisokone markert has burnt down more than 5 times before august 11 lets not politicize all the bad things happening in our communities. The police should work professionally not always seeking cheap publicity.
It’s PF cadres obviously. They have a track record in this regard. Remember Bweengwa where they kidnapped themselves?
This is absolutely laughable, coming from Law enforcement urgency. Notable fires so far: Chilonga Nursing school in Mpika ( suspected cause was abrupt power restoration), Mansa shoprite (cause not yet ascertained), Maramba cultural village (suspected cause was one drummer warming his drum for performance). And police think there is a conspiracy going on. hahahahaha. Surly is this police capable of investigating real high-level conspiracy cases?? These Fires are easy to investigate.
Ask the PF politicians – the ring leaders in hate they been paying youths to burn buildings and to try and blame UPND supports.
They are not going to stop – these thugs respect no one, so watch this space
JUST BUY MORE FIRE ENGINES. FIRES WILL ALWAYS BE THERE. STOP CROWDING PEOPLE LIKE WOOD. COUNCILS BE READY WITH FIRE ENGINES. USE THAT MONEY TO BUY FIRE ENGINES.
ba police failing kugwira banthu kkkkkkk zp
THIS IS THE TRUE HALLMARK OF THE PANGA FRATERNITY -P.F.
They had lied to their Cadres “UPND” will burn your property & we will pay, prior to,August elections.
Being the visionless mob, like their leader Edward -Chagwa these Cadres saw an opportunity to burn their lousy property / stock, & claim on the Eurobond cash being dished out like sweets, & now this has got out of hand.
There is even a news item on Dead NBC TV, weeks ago, when an official of Government warned cadres to stop burning their own property, & expecting Government to pay out.
P.F will turn Zambia into the new Rwanda!
A few fires and some with notable explanations, during the hottest part of the seasonal climate before the rains start, amidst load shedding extension and suddenly we have a major arsonist alert from the chief of police. I suspect he was speaking on the powers that be that will soon politicise the matter.
Chess board suggest op needs restructuring, modernising, retraining etc to suit computer age, bussiness, security etc needs.
U cannot fight corruption when these are out played.contructors runaway for gud no trace why?before a move is taken it s suppose to be chopped.to work for these its not just educated ,marketeers, villagers all classes itS just a brick information is there.pipo need to feel there presence somehow including foreigners.
Even if I knew who the arson was I will never give information to this so called police service.
U are the one
TERRORISM. I hope the police don’t apprehend the people who will help them bring the perpetrators to book. Years ago, if one goes to the police station and says , Bwana, i have saw who robbed my neighbours, the person trying to help would be beaten and detained for questioning. I sure hope things are different now…. Please catch these TERRORISTS involving in burning properties…..
Who ever is behind this act is for sure NOT gaining any popularity because he is not claiming responsibility. Who ever you are Please come out and tell all the people what wrong the buildings or indeed the owners of the items you are burning down have done you. You can hide but NOT FOREVER.
Kanganja, everytime you. Fail to do your job you want the public to do it for you. W
hilst dangling fake money. You just do it yourself thats why we pay you. What stupidity is this. You only know and rush to arrest HH and GBM.
Burn them if necessary until the correct election winner is declared.
We had the black mamba during FTJ. Chiluba, and we fought a good fight, now with this battle HH and GBM have started they will never ever win for God sent Edgar Lungu to be the 6th Zambian President.
We’ll fight them in the streets, in our huts and every Zambian to lift the Zulu knockberries in war.
On my first and last visit to Zambia, I never saw such widespread corruption in such a short time. On our first day we were stopped by “police” looking to extort money from us. Fortunately, we were with our lovely local friends who are wise to the whole charade and knew how to handle them. It happened repeatedly through out our visit as it was obvious that we weren’t locals. Its a shame that its the way the police welcome visitors to the capital of your beautiful country instead of doing their job of protecting its citizens.
