SOUTHERN Province Minister Edify Hamukale has advised all government heads departments and parastatals to ensure they submit the quarterly reports.
Dr Hamukale said the quarterly reports were being submitted to Republican President Edgar Lungu and it was important that all departments submit quarterly reports.
The Minister who was speaking in Choma during a meeting with District Commissioners, Mayors, Council chairpersons and Town Clerks said President Lungu would like to know how the government departments and parastatals were functioning hence the need for them to adhere to the directive of submission of the quarterly reports.
“The quarterly reports are of benefit to us as President Lungu will have access to know what is on the ground,” he said.
He said parastatals should not distance themselves from the submission of the reports but were required to comply and submit the reports.
He also called on all mayors, district council chairperson and district commissioners to read the constitution, Patriotic Front (PF) manifesto and the Seventh National Development Plan (SNDP) as they would help in the implementation of government programmes.
During the same meeting the Minister called on the Mazabuka Municipal Council to work at the creation of a divergent road to help curb the increased road accidents in the district.
Meanwhile Dr Hamukale assured the people of Kalomo that government had engaged Zamtel and the communication towers would soon be mounted in the district.
The Minister made the assurance following a question from Kalomo District Commissioner Cosmos Chiiba who sought for the intervention of the provincial Minister in the installation of the communication towers.
Mr Chiba said people of Dundumwezi and were subjected to climbing trees whenever they wanted to talk on mobile phones.
“Our people in Dundumwezi climb anti hills in for them to communicate and I request for your intervention,” he said.
