Founder of Unipower a Swedish Company that specializes in power quality and energy Johan Adolfsson has advised ZESCO to invest in equipment that will help in reducing wastage of electricity during transmission of power to clients.
Mr Adolfsson disclosed in an exclusive interview with ZANIS that ZESCO is losing a lot of electricity through leakages along the grid during transmission.
He explained that investing in advanced equipment will help the power utility firm to easily identify points where electricity is being wasted or leaked.
Mr Adolfsson said reducing on the wastage of electricity will assist in increasing the output of power being generated by ZESCO.
The Founder of Unipower stressed that leakages of electricity have the potential to damage power generators.
He said at the moment Zambia does not need new generators but rather improve on reducing electricity wastage.
Mr Adolfsson observed that reducing wastage of power during transmission will minimise costs encountered when there is a leakage along the grid.
He stressed that there is need for ZESCO to address the continued wastage of electricity during transmission to the end user.
He explained that leakages of electricity during transmission of power affects the quality of power being supplied to customers.
Mr Adolfsson said investors will only be attracted to come and invest in Zambia’s energy sector once the country has sufficient energy.

Same with Nkana Water they have too many leakages and they know if they introduced prepaid meters they would lose out completely. They just over look leaking pipes but still make money through fake bills.
