Over 1000 from a total of 100, 000 metric tons of maize purchased from Zambia for the food insecurity response has arrived in Malawi.

The maize is being stored in Admarc warehouses and will be distributed in the central and northern region Admarc depots for sale.

The corporation’s Chief Executive Officer Foster Mulumbe said the process of transporting the maize is going on smoothly.

Mr Mulumbe added that he remains hopeful of Malawian transporters getting involved in the transportation process even though they have missed out on the latest consignment that is being offloaded.

“I have been assured by the supplier that they are in the process of clearing a list of Malawian transporters with the Ministry of Agriculture in Zambia. Therefore, the next consignment will include Malawian transporters and chances are high that the ratio maybe more than 50 percent,” he said.

The Admarc Chief Executive Officer said measures have been put in place to ensure that the maize is not affected by rains in the transportation process or at their storage facilities.

Mr Mulumbe assured Malawians that besides the maize it is currently receiving, Admarc already has adequate stock of maize being sold in their depots countrywide adding that the maize arriving will supplement its existing stock.

Government through the corporation, has purchased a total of 300, 000 metric tons from Romania, Zambia and locally in a bid to avert the food crisis that Malawi is facing after last season’s harvest was heavily affected by adverse weather.

    • Iwe even in the developed world where they donate billions there are a lot of people in poverty. wake up my friend. Poverty is relative. You cannot let the Country of Malawi go hungry just because you drink beer every day and don’t support your grand mother.

    • Its not surprising that Zambia was rewarded abundantly clear with a gold medal as the hungriest country on the universe.
PF bandits at it again, the scandalous maize deals.
Again to their compulsive lies, PF bandits of the late Sata ‘donated’ 5 million litres of fuel to Malawi~Malavi~Nyasaland.
Look now fuel is over K13/ltr plus spiced load shedding tears unfortunately.
Yanyokola njala, wait after Xmas & January~2017~ iza nyokolelatu njala mwapya na dununa regret of visionless Lungu’s PF bandits.

    • Chama~ Chamapinduzi~ poverty differs between places. It’s affirmative that even in developed countries there is poverty. However in under developed countries like Zambia, poverty is rife with hunger in the mix. Remember that developed states have social security schemes unlike in poverty stricken ones like Zambia, plus load shedding & pathetic sanitation.
Chamachamapinduzi its infact you who needs to wake up early from your slumber. 5 years under visionless Lungu & PF bandits, I doubt your awakening of reality!

  3. Once upon a time in my native Lala Kingdom, one young man came across a human “skeleton”in the bush. He stood there for a while wondering; what could have killed this poor soul? He then kicked the little bones lying there and asking; “what killed you, what killed you?” suddenly the skeleton answered back and quipped; “kanwa kandetelele”….

The young man sped off like a jet back to the village to report to fellow villagers including the Chief about what he had discovered. Sooner than later, the entire village rushed to the scene and indeed, found the skeleton. The young man then asked the bones; “Come on, tell us what happened to you, what caused your death?” The skeleton just lay there without a word. The crowd went berserk and started beating the young man; “how can you such…

  4. ….. “how can you tell lies to us including the chief ati skeleton aisa mukulabila? They beat him so badly and left him there for DEAD! It was at that point when the skeleton spoke again and said; “you see my friend, naiwe akanwa kakuletelela”.

    Moral of Story.

So imwe ba SKELETON bloger, please learn to keep queit if you have nothing to yap about. This maize thing is an encoragement to farmers to grow even more maize for sale to the hungry world and bring into Zambia the much needed ‘folex’…

    • Are farmers benefiting anything in deals such as these? Yes they sweated to grow it but they are being exploited through government sabotage.

    • Daniel,
The price of maize this year has gone up and farmers are reaping rewards fro their sweat not you chaps who just post nonsense. Maize this year costs more than K100 for a 50kg bag. This is why FRA with her price of K75 has failed to meet the target of 500,000 tons

  5. THE MALAWIAN EDGAR LUNGU IS PUTTING HIS FELLOW MALAWIANS ‘INTERESTS FIRST. LUNGU DOES NOT LOVE THE ZAMBIANS AND DOES NOT LOVE ZAMBIA AT ALL.
