The Patriotic Front Information and Publicity Committee has urged traditional leaders in Southern Province not to be used by politicians who want to gain political office by all means.
Committee member Brian Hapunda says the party is aware that some chiefs have travelled from Southern Province to Lusaka and are holding meetings on holding demonstrations in the Province to press for the release of UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema.
Mr. Hapunda has told ZNBC News in a walk in interview said Mr Hichilema’s detention is purely a police matter and not a political one and therefore traditional leaders must not be dragged into legal issues.
And Mr Hapunda has castigated some foreign diplomats for meddling in the internal affairs of the country.
He said Zambia is a sovereign nation that has laws and rules that must be respected.
Last week Home Affairs Minister Steven Kampyongo warned that all those engaging in unlawful practices will face the full wrath of the law.

Taking into account that HH’s treasonable case is likely to take a long time before it is disposed by the Courts of Law, the UPND leaders should appoint GBM to ACT as ACTING UPND PRESIDENT to offer political leadership to this national party. Let’s hope this will be accepted by the existing structure.
