THE Lusaka City Council (LCC) is owed in excess of K35 million in unpaid commercial property rates and billboards from 30th March, 2017.

The Council has since dispatched bailiffs to help it recover over K18 million in commercial property rates and K17, 514, 724.15 from billboards.

Town Clerk, Alex Mwansa warned illegal billboard owners of punitive action and charged that the Council will apart from cutting down unauthorised billboards, not renew unpaid for billboards for the second quarter.

The Town Clerk strongly cautioned offenders that they risked prosecution through the courts of law.

He added that Demand notices for bills for the second quarter have since been dispatched.

“We are encouraging our debtors to come forward and pay what they owe the council. We are open on Saturdays up to 13:00 hours. Clients can either use the point of sale service or the Direct Debit and Credit Clearing (DDACC) with ZANACO, Stanbic, Natsave or UBA or they can deposit directly in their property rate accounts where applicable,” Mr Mwansa said.

  1. Start with pf who were putting up ridiculous billboards of that silly rat during elections. We all know they did not pay. So why not name them. Useless

    • am sure your dad is one of the rats pf was putting on those bill boards.check properly behind the same billboards you may even see your mum as well doing ngati ngati

  2. Apart from just thinking about money please stop allowing billboards all over the place and many blocking the view of drivers e.g. Those on Addis A baba drive. Please do not act only after an accident has occurred as is the usual case. Joining Addis from say Lunzua Road is very dufficult because of the obstruction from these billboards

  3. In regards to billboards…LCC needs to modernize, go and visit councils in England, the councils have no time for this cumbersome issue of chasing outstanding payments from brief case businessmen like Pastors who advertise on this boards in Lusaka. They have subcontracted or leased this side of the business to private Global Marketing firms like JCDecaux, Clear Channel UK Sign Kick etc….simply give them guidelines.

    • Good advice, but i doubt they have the capacity or any will to do that. They have no trust for anyone, because the money has to pass through their hands first.

  4. yes REMOVE ALL THE PAZANJA BILLBOARDS AS THE BOSS IS IN JAILNOW, THE UPND BILLBOARDS REALLY LOOK SO UGLY WITH NO MESSAGE AT ALL, DONT JUST REMOVE BUT DEREGISTER THE PARTIES FOR MISINFORMING PEOPLE THAT THEY WILL WIN AND YET LOST TERRIBLY

    • They could be ugly as you may think but you are the worst if there is a term to discribe your face and your heart for of hatred. God shall see you through when you meet the blood of Jesus Christ then you shall be washed and become white as snow.

  5. What about Kambwili? That is the biggest fish you need to catch. Stop going after the small people when you fail to go after your crooked ex ministers. What is Lungu waiting for? He made so much noise then went zzzzzzzzzzz! I guess inkama ninkama!
