  1. ‘Advanced stage’ is the most abused term in Zambia. Proceedings have reached an advanced stage. How about we replace it with other terms such as ‘progressing well’ / ‘reached two thirds’ / ‘nearing completion’ / ‘underway with seventy percent of the work done’ / ‘coming to completion within the expected time frame’ / ‘approaching completion’ … let’s not bore readers, listeners and viewers. MISA Awards are a sham.

    • This will be the third busiest and most impressive INTERNATIONAL airport after Oliver Tambo and Cairo International Airport.

All because of Lungu and this functioning Government.

Congratulations Government on behalf of all of us as Lusakatimes readers

      Thanks

      BB2014,2016

    • I will be at the airport on Saturday travelling from Australia. It is a very long flight to Zambia, please dear relatives, do not show up with flowers to welcome me! It’s annoying, what is that about!

    • @ Mushotas comment is no different from Mugabes about Zim being the second Most developed country in Africa after RSA. Given your statement were does this leave the Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi ???

    • Gary, I agree with you, I have no idea how on earth 10% done works is advanced stage. Advanced stage gives the impression that progress has surpassed the third quartile. However, your last sentence seems misplaced. Don’t be emotional, you are a man. Leave MISA out of this and take your frustrations somewhere else.

    • @Shameless or even simple Addis Ababa or Lagos! Anyway, to educate Mushota, biggest airport is made according to ability to handle big planes, passengers data (transit or departures and arrivals) and on that score KKIA will still be far away on the list :
      1. ORT
      2. Cairo
      3. Cape Town
      4. Mohammed V International Airport, Casablanca
      5. Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos
And Kenyatta airport is seventh on the list by IATA
As for the most expensive fuel in the world, we need to do a lot to match infrastructure with the reality!

    • Why is every caption ending with “and construction is done by China Jianxi”. Did these Chinese pay LT for advertising?

    • @1 IT’S LT- THEY CAN’T WRITE ENGLISH AND I DON’T KNOW WHY THEY DON’T WRITE IN NYANJA OR ANY OTHER LOCAL LANGUAGE.

    • GUYS, PLEASE, EDUCATE ME. IN PICTURES 4 AND 5 (PHYSICAL COUNTING) WHAT ARE PIMPS? I AM NOT VERY CONVERSANT WITH FIRE STATION EQUIPMENT.

    • @1.13 Peter – PIMPS? Oh, I thought everybody knew that. You know, the red light district. Well, at least, the colour red gives a clue. You know fire engines are red, right. And the guys who handle things in the red light district, you know, are called pimps. So that colour red is the key word here. Unless of course they meant pumps.

  2. Whats important is that you can see structures being erected and work is going on and the quality of work is good.
Leave those meaningless terminologies to politicians, more especially HH minions, who have forged grade 12 certificates.

    • The quality of work is good? How do you know that? The same as the roads that are collapsing after one rainy season and the Chinese have left and taken all the Eurobond money back to China?

    • @Munone, what quality are you talking about? Just a piece of advice: “YOU CAN’T TELL BY LOOKING” kikiki

  3. What’s this business of presidential pavilion? Why not just VIP? Everything in zambia has to be linked to politics yaba!

    • I am also worried about that term ‘presidential’ pavillion being used to describe a whole section of the airport!!

    • Vasco de Lungu needs his own private terminal for his personal use.

As Zambias most frequent flyer it is necessary,

    • Next a Cathedral and six-lane motorway leading to it, for himself and family, just like Houphet Boigny

  4. Chinese Infrastructure Loans have no benefit to the country:
    – 90% of contract is awarded to a chinese firm
    – 75% of labour-force comes from china
    – 90% of materials come from china
    – 90% of the money never even touches zambian banks

Then we remain with a huge debt which we’ll struggle to pay.

This airport + 3 hotels, a presidential suite, a mall etc will just be a White Elephant. KKIA has 3 flights a week due to the failed economy.

    • You obviously have not travelled through KK recently or you are just being frivolous by referring to 3 flights a week. There are at least 10 international flights daily now out of KK. Still small but an upward trend. SAA alone has 3 each day. Not to mention other airlines such as Namibian, Ethiopian, Emirates, Kenyan and Rwandair.

  5. Am happy to see airport development when coming in December am sure it will be done, work had guys

  6. The construction of a new airport was long overdue. The existing one is a huge joke —- so embarrassing.

  7. And are we buying Airplanes as a country? Otherwise its like constructing a car/garage without ever having to buy a or own a car.

  8. Let’s be serious these project was planned long before PF stop this nonsense of because of Lungu who is a failed President just brought shame to Zambia read international media, Chinese give you loan and give China company to build what do you make of that? Hope more flights will be landing in Zambia otherwise this will also be expensive to maintain already planes refuel in Zimbabwe not Zambia.

  9. All seems to be going on well, “the presidential pavilion” what for how many presidents traveling every day !
The issue is the KK airport is progressing steadily and sure.

    • It may serve the traveling public from the inconvenience created by party cadres when their VIP’s travel!

    • Correction: “save the traveling public from being inconvenienced by party cadres as they escort or receive their president!”

  10. Presidential pavilion – A place where presidents from all over the world will be situated to watch planes land and take off. National presidents, party presidents, company presidents, house presidents, tuntemba presidents, etc. all of the lot.

  11. Well done, Lusaka East must NOT be polluted by these UPND chaps who don’t know the meaning of development. Am glad that this and many more infrastructures are being constructed right in our face.
Can the Local Government also start regulating the standards of structures to be constructed at least in Lusaka East for us to show case that our country is a modern emerging one? Also let the Indian business chaps start demolishing the ram shackles they operate from in the old CBD to pave way for modern ones, its about time!
I just love the work culture of the Chinese, the machines don’t stop running and the results speak for themselves. HH will rot and die complaining whilst ECL advances the development of Zambia.
How about deliberately plan and develop Luapula to the standards of Dubai?…

  12. ‘Advanced stage ‘ is not applicable in certain shown pictures above, Please accord the right description to each picture. However, keep it up great project to my nation zambia

  13. This new terminal, though looking impressive in pictures, to me… it is not prudent management of state’s resources. We dont have a lot of flights coming to Zambia because we dont have a good and big airport, but rather, there is nothing happening in this country economically. These moneys would have been better spent on more important things that would benefit a lot of our nationals….

    • Mandumbwa wa Mandumbwa – KKIA is too small not even a big aircraft like Airbus A380 can be accommodated and three big aircraft can not take off in an hour it would be a logistical nightmare.

    • Yes my laptop had crashed suddenly …its Lazy Lungu and IG’s khaki clad boys, they threw some spanners in the works. These people have no shame!!

  14. This boy jay jay his head looks to be locked up in his cartoon caption, he can not think straight even in reality. Good work out there, kk airport might be small, remember the ultra modern airport in ndola is also in the pipe line.

    • They made a lot of money in kickbacks from this selfsame contract the thieving Kaizer Zulus & co…why do you think they called in the Chines, after chasing the Turks. This is why today they are bidding for Lazy’s silly hats at auctions for K185000…only someone who has not sweated for something can do that as its stolen money.
      Wake up!!

  15. Comment:Ignorant Mushota visiolises the airport to be Oliver Tambo has this dull girl ever been to RSA ? She doesnt even know who initiated the same project she says all coz of PF under Mr Treason. Mushota read and study to know what is happening Globally we are a laughing stock my friend under your PF dull cadre wonder even the kind of cadre to marry you.

  16. There is something seriously wrong in most of the people, zambians living overseas. Borrowed comfort has not spares your brains from confusion. You all seem very delusional except for one great BR mumba if I’m not mistaken. I salute this man as I have never head him talk nonsense about his country despite living abroad. Most of you are a big let down. You are too negative about your country. The government is trying under very hard atmosphere or economic hardship if you like. All you see is your personal frustrations from where ever you living. Show companion to your home of birth as even you filthy dead bodies will be brought to be barrier on the land you disposed a lot during your days alive. Big up to the PF government and job well done

    • Some people can see 10% completion and talk about a job “done”. Maybe you should travel outside the country more to experience reality a bit

  17. This is an execellent piece of work by PF Govnt!!whoever has eyes can see developmental projects across Zambia being done by PF.if this is not development, then i dont know.

As for UPND,i can only remind you that many Zambians are able to see and appreciate PF’s splendid works since 2011,hence voting for them.remember how “sonta apowabomba” slogan finished HH in 2016.it will be the same in 2021 because PF is determined to continue implementing big projects across Zambia.
To PF i would say “please continue working hard”.never get disturbed by haters in opposition because they know too well that the more big projects you fullfil, the more slim their little chances of winning in 2021 become!!!KEEP IT UP PF!!

  18. The new KK international will still be smaller and less busier than continental giants like OR Tambo ,Jomo Kenyatta ,Bole Addis and MMIA in Lagos .

Zambian aviation, business of travel and its facilities still got some ways to go.

  19. OK a new KKIA,now I will be a little less embarrassed to fly in my friends from the US of A to my hometown.

But then again there’s still the corrupt KKIA officials ,unprofessional customs agents and the dusty filthy streets full of kantembas .

  20. Mushota is disillusioned..She thinks Lungu pulled money out of his ass..The money the Chinese are spending is in China all they are doing is collecting interest….The builders are Chinese, the loan is from China and at the end Air China and other Chinese airlines will operate the airport to 110% till they get all the money we owe them..
All the faces at the airport will be Chinese..

  21. Its not called Presidential Pavillion only in Zambia. Everywhwere else thats the name of such facilities where Presidents are given red carpet reception on arrival or departure. It will still be Presidential Pavillion even when HH becomes President and anyone after him. Whats the problem with people. Lungu will never reamain President forever.

  22. Kindly note!!! the currently KK international airport is big enough to handle any plane be it cargo or passenger plan. Infact at some point it was one of the few airports in africa to accommodate the concode.
The only problem it has is that the infrastructure is old and need modernization. Thats why the need for the new one.
