Mufulira Blackpool end winless drought

Share

Mufulira Blackpool have ended an 18-months win-less drought that saw them relegated from the FAZ Super Division last season without victory.

Blackpool on Sunday beat Zesco Luapula 1-0 away in Mansa in a FAZ Division 1 Zone 2 match to end the lengthy win-less streak.

The Kamuchanga based outfit last won a competitive match on 8th November 2015 on the day they won promotion to the Super Division.

Prior to the famous win in Mansa, Blackpool had recorded four draws and a loss in their first five matches of this year’s Zone 2 season.

Ngondo Matata was the Sunday hero as his 80th minute strike sent Blackpool into wild celebrations after the final whistle.

The win has excited Blackpool fans who took to the club’s Face Book page to celebrate.

“I have been waiting for this win for a year and some months,” Jackson Mumba commented.

“Winning away. The bad jinx is now broken,” Noah Kanema Kalala posted.

Annie Ryan Chalwe wrote:”Praise be to God in the highest. Thanks guys for the job well done congratulations.”

Blackpool are now 10th on the table with seven points from six matches played.

  1. Kikiki this is so fun. 1 year and half no win? Might be FiFa world record.
    FAZ should pursue for recognition.
