President Lungu pledges support for the growth Marine Unit

President Lungu has pledged to support the growth of the Marine unit to carry out its operations like other security wings in the country.

Mr Lungu pledged his support when he made a spot check on the progress of the construction project at the 48 Marine unit Kala Camp in Kawambwa District.

The President said the Marine Unit is a department of his Government and will ensure that it grows into a full-fledged security wing that will carry out its operations in all the major water bodies in the country.

Speaking at the same occasion, Housing and infrastructure Development Minister Ronald Kaoma Chitotela disclosed that the 995 housing Units under construction will include a church building, a recreation hall, a school, and other facilities at the cost of over 200million US Dollars.

Mr. Chitotela said the project demonstrates President Lungu’s passion to develop Kawambwa and Luapula as a Province.

He assured the President that during his next visit to Kala, he will find the works in progress for upgrading the Mwenda-Kawambwa-Kampampi road to bituminous standard since a contractor to do the work has now been identified.

Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa said the construction project at Kala is transforming lives as it is part of the fulfilment of the campaign promises that PF made to Kawambwa people.

He disclosed that the forthcoming Luapula Expo is one of the strategies aimed at changing the economic landscape of the province and invited the President to grace the Expo as Guest of Honour.

The Expo is slated for July 26th to 31st 2017 which will attract investors from far a wide in agriculture, forestry, mining, aquaculture, livestock and tourism.
